6th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - This week we will finish learning about circuits and switches. Then students will practice the robotics vocabulary they have learned so far. By the end of the week we should be practicing with the EV3 sensors to learn how they work and what types of data they collect.

And since this is the official Hour of Code week, students will get one class period to participate for Chimacum Middle School!

HW - None unless you fall behind and need to catch up. Those who need to fix the Faraday Golfing Machine blog post or those who need to finish it, you need to do so for homework because we will not have any more time in class for you to finish it.

This week period 2 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.
8th-grade Science

Monday to Wednesday - This week students will see if plant reproduction has anything in common with human reproduction. We will begin by dissecting flowers to learn how flowering plants reproduce. Then students will finish practicing how to make Punnett Squares. That will lead to learning about the difference between mitosis and meiosis.

And since this is the official Hour of Code week, students will get one class period to participate for Chimacum Middle School!

HW - If you have not fixed your incorrect answers on the Weather Final Exam, you still need to do so.

Thursday & Friday - Laura Tucker from the Public Health Department will be hosting the Human Growth and Development class for 8th graders start Thursday and continuing through Friday.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with All The Right Type.
  3. Play World of Warcraft to level up your character! OR Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab.
HW - No homework is assigned unless a student falls behind. If your child falls behind, he or she can catch up on their Keyboarding and on their 3D GameLab assignments using any device that has an Internet connection. To practice keyboarding, a device with a full keyboard is best. Kids can also do their keyboarding practice and 3D GameLab assignments from home if they want to get ahead.
