This week we will also work on the Faraday Golfing Machine Robotics activity.

HW - None unless you have fallen behind.

This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

If the weather permits, I'll take 2nd period down later in the week. Maybe Thursday and Friday. We'll see, otherwise, 2nd period will go down next week.

Monday - Today we will complete page 36 from our class barometer data.

Then students can work on their 3D GameLab quests to study for the upcoming weather final exam.

I will also be leading students through an activity where they will be guiding an International Space Station (ISS) digital camera to take digital images for us that WE CHOOSE! Exciting!

HW - Do any catch-up work so that you can be ready for the exam.

Tuesday - Last day to study for the exam and complete the 3D GameLab quests.

Students must also finish setting up their electronic portfolio (ePortfolio) and adding samples of their Weather work and learning.

Wednesday - Weather Unit final exam!

Thursday - Today those who did not complete the final exam get a chance to finish. Those who did finish and need to fix any answers will get to do so today.

6th-grade Science

Monday - Today my 1st Period class will take the English Language Arts (ELA) MAP test in the morning.

Then I will have my 3rd-period students. I will check in with my 3rd-period students to see if they are ready to start the robotics unit. Students will have today to complete any quests they didn't complete last week.

HW - See last week to see what 3D GameLab quests you still need to do and if you can do them at home then you can catch up!

Tuesday - Today I will check in with my 1st and 2nd period classes to see how close they are to starting the robotics unit.

If 3rd period is ready, we will begin with the first lesson on Robotics - what is a robot? Then students will write a blog post sharing what they learned.

Wednesday to Friday - For the rest of the week, teams in each class will work on the following lessons:

  • EV3 Intro
  • EV3 Kit Intro (teams will be assigned a kit that they will organize as they put it all together)
  • Parts Exploration
  • Gears!
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will debrief Friday's sub notes. The sub reported that a lot of students did NOT do any work. Only five students turned in assignments on Friday! That is not acceptable.

Once the expectations are made clear we will read an article of cap clouds to learn what those types of clouds tell us about the weather.

Then I will check in with students to see how much work they have done.

HW - None if you are all caught up. See last week for the 3D GameLab quests you need to have done by now.

Tuesday - Today we are going to start Lesson 3, pages 23 to 26. Students will do the lab for Activity 3.1.

Wednesday - Today students will work on activity 3.2 on pages 27 and 28. Then students will make sense of what they saw yesterday and today by completing page 29.

If we have time we will start activity 3.3 to reach consensus on what students observed on pages 30 and 31.

HW - Do the reading and annotating (the way we practiced in class) on pages 32 to 34 in your IQWST workbook.

Thursday - Check the HW and complete activity 3.3 if we didn't finish yesterday.

Then students can finish up lesson 3 on 3D GameLab.

Friday - Today students will finish lesson 3 by completing any 3D GameLab quests they need to finish so they won't have to do any homework this weekend.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with All The Right Type.
  3. Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab.
HW - No homework is assigned unless a student falls behind. If your child falls behind, he or she can catch up on their Keyboarding and on their 3D GameLab assignments using any device that has an Internet connection.
