Monday - Today teams will finish the Faraday Golfing Machine Challenge!

HW - The only homework students have is to finish any work that has not been completed in class.

Tuesday to Friday - Teams need to upload their Faraday Golfing Machine challenge video to their Youtube accounts. Each student needs to complete their Faraday blog post, too.

Once all are done with their Faraday blog posts we will learn about Circuits and Switches.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today teams will plan their Future City project so they can begin the research phase.

HW - None if your workbook lessons are all done, including last week's homework for lesson 3. So all of Lessons 1, 2, and 3 need to be done by now.

Tuesday to Thursday - Teams will continue to research current technologies used to protect power grids against severe weather such as hurricanes and tornadoes. Then teams can design their Future Cities!

Friday -  Students will work on their Genius Hour projects.

Monday to Friday - More teams have begun the Robot Drag Racing challenge so we are going to continue having drag races this week. The goal is for all teams to get to the drag racing challenge so they design and race their robot.

Tuesday to Friday - The rest of this week we will spend finishing the Gears activity then beginning the Faraday's Golfing Machine challenge.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we are going to wrap up Lesson 3 to make sure everyone understands what happens to air once it gets heat from the Earth's surface.

HW - None if you are all caught up. Lesson 1 and 2 on your Weather workbook should be all done.

Tuesday to Thursday - We will finish Lesson 3 from page 23 to 31. Then we will start Lesson 4 on page 35.

HW - Do the Lesson 3 reading and activities on pages 32 to 34.

Friday -  Students will work on their Genius Hour projects.

Monday to Friday - Teams that are ready to build their EV3 Robo Drag Racer will be completing their build and racing their robots this week! We had a couple of test races Friday so a few teams are ready for Monday.

The rest of the teams need to finish their Move Challenge, the Tire Rotations (Robo Math) challenge, and the How Fast challenge.

Monday - Today we will have guest presenters from NASA's Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline (NESSP) visit to teach students about their High Altitude Balloon (HAB) program!

HW - None if you are all caught up! If you need more time to finish any work that you did not get done in class, then please do it for homework.

Tuesday - Today teams will get their Lego Mindstorm EV3 kits. Teams will learn about different lego shapes and which shapes are stronger.

Wednesday - Today I will have a substitute while I attend a Science training. 

Students will get to work on correcting any questions they got wrong on the Mt Saint Helens assessment as well as finish any Rezzly quests that are not yet completed.

Thursday and Friday - Students will be doing a Gears activity with the Legos.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today 6th graders will take a Mt Saint Helens quiz review in the form of a Boss Battle! They will take notes to study for the actual quiz.

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Tuesday to Friday - Tuesday students will be participating in this year's Healthy Youth Survey.

Once students have practiced and studied Mt Saint Helens, they will take the actual quiz. Then we will transition to learning about robots for our robotics unit with the Lego Mindstorms EV3!

We are also going to start preparing for our spring environmental stewardship project by trapping fish in our creek next week so that we can identify and count them.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today 8th graders will be writing thank you letters to the generous donor who gave money to a Donors Choose Project Mr. G created to get some sensors for Science this year. 

Students will use a light sensor to see first hand why it is warmer at the equator instead of at the poles of our planet!

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Tuesday - Today students will participate in this year's Healthy Youth Survey.

Then they will continue working on Lesson 2 to learn what makes the air hot.

Wednesday and Thursday - Continue with Lessons 2 and 3 and the labs on conduction and convection.

Friday -  Students will work on their Genius Hour projects.

Monday to Friday - Teams are working on challenges at their own pace. Once they reach the Robot Drag Races challenge teams will get to compete against each other!
