5th/6th-grade Science Monday - Garden Today! Today we will be checking our Survive the Sound fish as tracking starts! All classes have finished getting their robot kits ready for next year's students so all classes are officially staring to work on our Environmental Stewardship Project! HW - By now everyone should be done with Robotics Vocabulary, Energy Vocabulary, Friction, Forces and Motion, Humans Flying, Super Speed, Physics of Football 1, 2, and 3 at least! All the other assignments (see here) are available to all students to do at home. Students also need to finish their Potential Energy Robotics Challenge eportfolio entry for homework since we do not have more class time available. Tuesday - During Period 1 students will take the ELA CAT Smarter Balance Assessment.  After testing I will have 6A for Science. This class will begin the Environmental Stewardship unit. Wednesday - All three classes will have Science today! Once all classes have chosen teams and chosen water quality parameters to specialize in, we will start learning how to use the water quality testing equipment. Thursday - Today in Period 1 all students will take the ELA Performance Task Smarter Balance Assessment. After testing I will have 6A for Science again. This class will continue working on the Environmental Stewardship unit. Friday -  Every class will have Science today. By now all classes should have started learning how to use the water quality testing equipment. As classes are ready, we will begin going down to the creek to collect data!

5th/6th-grade Science Monday - Garden Earth Day Activity - Pulling blackberry vines with NOSC! If we have time in class we will start taking apart the robots! HW - By now everyone should be done with Robotics Vocabulary, Energy Vocabulary, Friction, Forces and Motion, Humans Flying, Super Speed, Physics of Football 1, 2, and 3 at least! All the other assignments (see here) are available to all students to do at home. Students also need to finish their Potential Energy Robotics Challenge eportfolio entry for homework since we do not have more class time available. Tuesday - Start organizing the Lego Mindstorms EV3 robotic kids to conclude our robotics unit. Teams who finish before class ends can work on their eportfolio entry. Wednesday - Continue getting robot kits ready for next year. Fifth graders will practice for their Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science test, which they will take on Tuesday May 16. Thursday - For classes who are done getting robot kits ready for next year, Environmental Stewardship Project - working on learning water quality parameters to start going down to the creek and collect data. NOSC/Finnriver field trip today from 1 pm to 3:15 pm. Students will be involved in tree planting, invasive species removal, and nursery maintenance.  Friday -  Today we will continue the Environmental Stewardship unit or finish getting robot kits ready for next year.

5th/6th-grade Science Monday - Garden Today! While we are not doing garden work students will work on their potential energy robotics projects. HW - Two permission slips need to be signed and returned to Mr. Gonzalez this week: NOSC/Finnriver Farm creek restoration field trip and Chimacum Creek Water Quality Testing trips. By now everyone should be done with Robotics Vocabulary, Energy Vocabulary, Friction, Forces and Motion, Humans Flying, Super Speed, Physics of Football 1, 2, and 3 at least! All the other assignments (see last week) are available to all students to do at home. Tuesday - Teams need to get their robots programmed and doing what they are supposed to do so they can calculate the potential and kinetic energy. Wednesday - Today the Second Step lessons will be done by Mrs. Kaster in Science class. After the Second Step lesson students will work on their robotics projects. Thursday and Friday - Robotics projects are due this Friday. That includes writing up their final potential and kinetic energy results on their electronic portfolios.

Fifth graders and the 6th graders who did not go to Islandwood will be at school together working on the following Science assignments:  Humans Flying, Super Speed, The Physics of Football 1, The Physics of Football 2, The Physics of Football 3, Choose Another Event, Units of Measurement, Newton’s Laws Review, Friction Simulation, Net Force & Normal Force, Forces & Motion Simulation, Force Diagrams, Energy Skate Park Simulation, and End of this Path Friday -  We are ALL back together on our regular schedule! We will be debriefing the week then get back to work on our Potential Energy Design Challenge. It's officially due today but the deadline needs to be extended until next week so that we can finish up.
