Monday to Wednesday - Week 4 blogging challenge is a chance to catch up on the last three weeks. For those who are caught up you can write about anything you like!

Remember to continue leaving comments on blog posts from kids in other schools.

HW - Catch up on your blog posts including the Amazon Fires blog post and the first three weeks of the Student Blogging Challenge.

Thursday and Friday - No School due to conferences. Happy Halloween!
6th-grade Science

Monday to Wednesday - This week students need to finish the Faraday Golfing Machine challenge so they can write their Faraday Golfing Machine blog post and the Robots blog post. 

HW - Catch up on missing assignments from the first quarter before we started Robotics. Assignments that are overdue include the following:

  • Images on Blog
  • Youtuber
  • Mt Saint Helens Explanations
  • Widgets, Anyone?
  • Passion Post
  • Commenter

Conferences Start Wednesday Evening - We will be available for those who signed up for tonight from 4 to 8 pm.

Thursday (no school) - Conferences today will go from 7:30 to 9:30, from 10:00 to 12:00, and from 12:30 to 2:30.

Friday (no school) - Conferences today from 7:30 to 9:30, and from 10:00 to 12:00 noon.

Tuesday - Today we will visit the garden for the Chimacum Elementary Garden Lessons from Farmer Lex!

Wednesday - Today is Library Day!

Thursday and Friday - Finish the Week 3 blogging challenge and make sure you comment on as many blog posts from kids in other schools as you can.
6th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - This week student teams will complete a Gears Lego activity as well as the Faraday's Law Lego activity. Then students will learn and/or review how circuits and switches work.  

HW - By mid-week look for a letter coming home confirming your Parent/Teacher/Student Conference time slot for next week's conferences (or you will get a paper so that you can make your selection of time slots).

Thursday, Oct 17, is PICTURE DAY!

Thursday & Friday - Finish the Week 2 activities of the Student Blogging Challenge!
6th-grade Science

Monday - Today 1st and 2nd period students will get their Mt Saint Helens test results.

Then we will transition to our next unit - Physical Science through Robotics!

We will begin with a Pear Deck Robotics activity.

Note: Period 3 still has to take the Mt Saint Helens test because Friday we had an assembly during period 3 and they didn't have time to take the test. They will start the robotics unit tomorrow.

HW - None unless you scored less than a 16 on your Mt Saint Helens test. For those who didn't score at least a 16 out of 20, you need to study to retake the test.

Tuesday & Wednesday - We will be on an early release schedule so students will be going home at 12:15 pm. Classes will be about 50 minutes each on Tuesday and about 40 minutes each on Wednesday. 

Students will get assigned a team Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit. We will go over a few basics including a quick building activity to get acquainted or reacquainted with the Legos.

Thursday & Friday -  Student Teams will work on their Robotics blog post assignment then we will work our way to a lab on Gears and how they work.

Monday & Tuesday - The 2019 Student Blogging Challenge officially starts this week!

Students need to complete the Week 1 Challenge as well as finish and publish their Amazon Rainforest Fires post and start commenting on posts of other kids participating in this challenge.

HW - None unless you fall behind and can catch up at home.

Wednesday - Library Day!

If all goes according to plan students will be assessed on their Mt Saint Helens and volcano knowledge by Thursday or Friday.
