6th-grade Science

Monday - Today North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) Stewards will visit our 6th graders to teach them about Chimacum Creek and the restoration work being done.

HW - None, unless you want to or need to make up your energy test. Mr. G has packets for students to study.

Tuesday - NOSC Stewards return today bringing samples of Chimacum Creek water for students to look for and identify the bugs in the water. Using a Benthic Index, students can determine the water quality of our creek!

Wednesday to Friday - Student teams need to finish their robotic solution and record them so that we can move on to the writing portion of the Hydro Dynamics Challenge!
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will be taking our Physical Science Test. 

HW - None unless students need to study for the test (if we postpone it until Tuesday). When students get their results, they will know if they need to study some more to make it up.

Tuesday to Thursday - 
We are going to score yesterday's test. Then we will start our new unit of study - Genetics!

We will begin with Lesson 1 in the How Do Organisms Look The Way They Do workbook.

Friday -  Students will work on their Genius Hour projects.

HW - Students, make sure to bring your pledge money from Friday's Choose-A-Thon! 

Parent Student Teacher Conferences today are from 3 pm to 7 pm!

Tuesday - No School Today - Parent Student Teacher Conferences today from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.

Wednesday - Today 6th graders will be going on the North Olympic Salmon Coalition field trip to Finnriver Farms. This is part of the service we provide our community as part of the Ocean Guardian School project where students pot and plant native vegetation that will go along Chimacum Creek.

Thursday - Same as Monday.

Friday - I will be gone today on the 8th-grade field trip. Sixth graders will be with Ms. Hall.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we are going to continue studying for the Physical Science Final Assessment. 

HW - The Physical Science Final Assessment will happen next Monday so students need to study their Pear Deck Google Doc notes.

Parent Student Teacher Conferences today are from 3 pm to 7 pm!

Tuesday - No School Today - Parent Student Teacher Conferences today from 7:30 am to 11:30 am.

Wednesday - I will be planting trees with 6th graders 3rd period so 3rd-period students will be working on the following in their Math class.

Today 8th graders will work on their last physical science Classcraft quests. Their homework is to study for the Physical Science Final Assessment, which will take place this coming Monday.

Thursday - Students will work on their Genius Hour projects.

Friday -  Museum of Flight Field Trip! We will be gone from 6:15 am when the bus pulls out until around 5:30 pm when the bus pulls in.

Monday - Teams are working on their EV3 robotics challenges and teams are on different challenges depending on quickly they finish a challenge and move on to the next.

Wednesday and Thursday - Same as Monday.

Friday - Today I will be gone with the 8th graders on their field trip. Seventh graders will be in Mr. Haddenham's PE class.

Choose-A-Thon Outdoor Education Fundraiser this Friday, April 12, during 1st and 2nd period!!

Student/Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for next Monday, April 15, from 3 to 7pm, and Tuesday, April 16, from 7:45am to 11:15am, in the high school commons.

Monday to Thursday - Students will be reflecting on their progress so far this year in preparation for next week's conferences.

Once students are done reflecting on their progress thus far, they will continue working on their Hydro Dynamics Challenge. This week teams will need to start designing, building, programming and testing their water pollution robotic solutions.

HW - Get all the permission slips and photo release forms signed and brought back to Mr. G by Thursday!

Continue getting pledges for Friday's Choose-A-Thon!


Friday - Today we will have the Choose-A-Thon Outdoor Education fundraising event! If the 6th grade raises $800 we will meet our goal and celebrate with an ice cream party!
8th-grade Science

Monday to Thursday - Students will be reflecting on their progress so far this year in preparation for next week's conferences.

Then students will complete a packet based on the Sphero Chariot Challenge they did before spring break.

After that, we will begin studying for the physical science test.

HW - Get the Museum of Flight Field Trip Permission Slip signed and returned to Mr. G by the end of this week. 

Study what we've learned so far to prepare for the Physical Science Test.

Friday - Genius Hour project updates. Students should be preparing their TedEd Talk presentations for the end of May!
