Monday through Thursday - Here is this week's testing schedule:
Monday - Math Adaptive
Tuesday - ELA Adaptive
Wednesday - Math Performance
Thursday - ELA Performance

Testing will happen with 1st period teachers in the 1st period classroom from the beginning of the day until lunch time. Students who need more time can continue working on their test in the computer lab after lunch.

For 3rd period, Monday I will have Group C students, Tuesday, I will have Group A students, Wednesday, I will have Group B students, and Thursday I will have Group C students again.

During 3rd period I will take students down to the creek again for the final water quality testing data collection. Back in class, students will continue to work on their Environmental Stewardship topics study.

HW - None, unless students are falling behind.

Friday - Today we will have a regular day with all our regular periods.

In each team, there is a student learning about Ocean Acidification, one learning about the Water Cycle, one learning about Invasive Species, and one learning about Salmon. They each have different activities to complete.

Teams also need to figure out what their water quality data means by learning about dissolved oxygen or D.O., pH, temperature, turbidity, and flow rate. We have lots to do and not a lot of time to do it!

Monday - Group B - We will be meeting in the computer lab so that students can continue playing World of Warcraft! Students can choose to continue playing their Alliance characters to get them to level 20, get mounts, and do dungeon runs with Mr. G OR students can start playing a Horde character if they completed the Villain quests on 3D GameLab!

HW - None

Tuesday - Group C - Same as Monday

Wednesday - Group A - Same as Monday

Friday (double period) -
12:28 to 1:03pm - Group B
1:06 to 1:41pm - Group C
1:45 to 2:20pm - Group A

Students will be working on their WoW in Schools 3D GameLab quests on Fridays so we will be meeting in my Science classroom, room 410. Whether students choose to continue playing Alliance or start playing Horde, they have plenty of 3D GameLab quests to choose from and work on.

Monday to Friday - Teams who finished their PSA's are working on the next phase of our Environmental Stewardship Project. In each team, students will be studying one of the following to become the team expert in that field:
  • Salmon
  • Invasive Species
  • Ocean Acidification
  • Water Cycle
In addition to the above topics, every team will learn about two water quality parameters.

Period 1 is ready to start going down to the creek, as long as it's not raining, to start collecting data!

I am still training teams in Periods 2 and 3 on how to use the equipment we have so that they can start collecting data on our creek's dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, turbidity and flow rate.

It really helps when teams are on task and working, otherwise it takes longer to get all the teams trained and they will may not get down to the creek as often.

HW - Finish your Water Pollution PSA if you are not done.

Monday - We still have students who have NOT completed their Water Pollution Public Service Announcements. We started working on those March 6. I can't wait any longer and must begin training teams on how to use the water quality testing equipment so we can start collecting data on our creek's water quality for this year. Those who need more time to complete their Water Pollution Public Service Announcements need to finish at home.

Teams who finished their PSA's are working on the next phase of our Environmental Stewardship Project. In each team, students will be studying one of the following to become the team expert in that field:

I will be training teams on how to use the equipment we have so that we can start collecting data on our creek's dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, turbidity and flow rate. This is a fantastic way to have our 6th graders do real Science as they monitor our creek's health!

HW - Finish your Water Pollution PSA if you are not done.

Tuesday - No school today so that students and parents can come to their Student-Led Conferences. I will see my 2nd period families today!

Wednesday to Friday - See Monday. I'm hoping to be done training teams by Friday at the latest so that we can start going down to the creek Monday to begin getting water quality data! If I finish training teams before Friday, we might very start going down to the creek this week!

Monday - Today students will take a Kahoot quiz on water pollution so that I can see what they learned from studying water pollution from March 6 to March 30.

Students who went on Friday's field trip can complete that quest on 3D GameLab. Those students who have not yet completed their Water Pollution Public Service Announcement still need to do that.

HW - Finish your Public Service Announcement if you have not yet completed it. And turn in the Water Quality Testing Field Trip permission slip if you did not do that in March.

For my 2nd period class ONLY - Make sure you book your child's Student-Led Conference time slot for April 18!

Tuesday to Friday - This week I am going to get students started on the Environmental Stewardship topics that they are going to be learning about next:
  • Salmon
  • Invasive Species
  • Ocean Acidification
  • Water Cycle
  • Water Quality
    • Dissolved Oxygen
    • Temperature
    • pH
    • Turbidity
    • Flow Rate
I will help students get started by introducing/teaching about the above topics as student teams complete a 3D GameLab quest for each topic. The water quality topic also includes me training students on how to use the water quality testing equipment so that we can start going down to the creek to collect data!
