Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday - Semester Break - No School Today. Tuesday - Students should be finishing up their Minecraft story scenes. The goal is to turn their story scene into a 3D Model as well as to download photos of their scene for their Book Creator books. HW - None Wednesday - Library Day. Thursday and Friday -  As students finish their Minecraft story scenes they can begin planning their Podcasts for the Student Podcast Challenge.

6th-grade Science Monday - Semester Break - No School Today. Tuesday to Friday - Teams will get their Potential Energy Design Challenge idea approved this week so that they can begin building, programming, running their programs, calculating, and collecting data. HW - None unless you need to catch up on missing assignments. Energy Transformations Flipgrid Gravity Newton's 3rd Law Projectile in Orbit Projectiles on Earth 3D Model Train Still waiting for safer weather. Let's see if it will be this week! This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday and Tuesday - Students should be finishing their Minecraft 3D models of their story scene.  HW - None Wednesday - Library Day Thursday and Friday - Those who finish their 3D scene models will export them as a 3D model so that we can vote on the best ones. Once students finish their 3D Models we can start working on the Student Podcast Challenge!

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week teams are going to begin planning their project for the Potential Energy Design Challenge. Students can make use of any of the materials we have at school as well as bringing things from home. Students will also learn how to design in 3D in case they create something to use in their project that we can print on our 3D printer.  HW - Students can finish any of the following assignments that they did not finish last week: 1. Energy Transformations Flipgrid 2. Gravity 3. Newton's 3rd Law 4. Projectile in Orbit 5. Projectiles on Earth Students who showed interest in joining the CES Minecraft eSports Club got permission slips today. Since there are more students interested than there is space in the club, students will be chosen randomly from those who can attend all the meetings every week and have their permission slip signed. Those who do not make it will be put on a wait list just in case space opens up. Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday to Friday - Students are making 3 dimensional versions of scenes from the stories they are writing in Minecraft Education Edition. HW - None

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week we will continue playing the Gimkit energy and forces vocabulary practice game a few more times.  Students will also continue taking sketchnotes of energy transfers. We sketched an electrical energy transfer, three heat energy transfers, and saw a motion energy transfer. This week we will focus on Newton's Three Laws of Motion. Once we are done learning about the laws of motion, teams will begin the next robotics project - the Potential Energy Design Challenge! HW - None No fish trapping this week due to weather.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday - Today I will introduce the podcasting portion of our homeroom work so that students can start practicing how to make their own podcasts! Students can also begin illustrating a scene from their stories.  HW - None Tuesday - Today we will visit the school garden to meet and work with our new farmer, Farmer Corey! Wednesday to Friday - For the rest of the week we will continue to work our scene illustrations. If student accounts are ready students can begin creating Minecraft scenes of their illustrations.

6th-grade Science Monday - Today we will review where we left off before winter break so that student teams can get back into the swing of things. By now teams should have their first robots built and have practiced/reviewed how to program them using the Lego Mindstorms software tutorials. Teams should also either be done with the Sensabot Challenge or at starting it. HW - None if you are all caught up. Some students might need help finishing their How Sensors Work Lab Write-ups and blog posts. Tuesday to Friday - This week we will begin learning the physics vocabulary that teams will need for the next challenge, the Potential Energy Design Challenge! This week period 3 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

6th-grade Science Monday - Today 6th graders will be taking the MAP Reading Test. Students will have until 2 pm to finish. Those who finish early will either get time to work on Math or Science. From 2:00 to 3:25 my Period 1 class will have Science today. See Wednesday for what they will be doing. HW - None Tuesday - Today 6th graders will be taking the MAP Math Test. Students will have until 2 pm to finish. Those who finish early will either get time to work on Math or Science. From 2:00 to 3:25 my Period 2 class will have Science today. See tomorrow for what they will be doing. Wednesday - Regular Wednesday today. Teams who are done with their Sensors blog post are going to build their team robot, practice programming their robot, and complete their first challenge, the Sensabot Challenge.  Teams who complete the Sensabot Challenge before the end of the week can move on to learning a little bit about how computers work before they begin the next challenge where they will learn how to use the move steering programming block with rotations and degrees mathematically! Thursday - Today 6th graders will be taking the MAP Language Test. Students will have until 2 pm to finish. Those who finish early will either get time to work on Math or Science. From 2:00 to 3:25 my Period 3 class will have Science today. See Wednesday for what they will be doing. Friday -  Regular weekday schedule today. Same as Wednesday.

6th-grade Science Monday - Some teams are still finishing the Sensor labs. Today teams who are done will share what they learned with the rest of the class. HW - None Tuesday to Friday - Teams who are done with their Sensors blog post are going to build their team robot, practice programming their robot, and complete their first challenge, the Sensabot Challenge.  Teams who complete the Sensabot Challenge before the end of the week can move on to learning a little bit about how computers work before they begin the next challenge where they will learn how to use the move steering programming block with rotations and degrees mathematically! Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday to Friday - The week 8 Student Blogging Challenge Google Form will close this Wednesday so students have until then to complete any of the challenges. Those who are done with all 8 challenges will be working on the Saturn's Moon naming activity. We will submit ideas for naming of 20 new moons discovered orbiting Saturn!  Then students will begin to study the Journey of a Hero as they begin to develop their very own story. HW - None unless you want to catch up on any late Student Blogging Challenge posts.

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week teams will be finishing their sensor labs. Once teams collect their data and graph their data they will write conclusions. Their conclusions will become their sensor blog post. Once teams are finished publishing their sensor blog posts they will begin building their EV3 Robot and practicing/reviewing how to program their robot before they begin their first robot challenges! HW - None This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.
