Quarter 3, Week 9, 3-30 to 4-3

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - Monday, we are going to finish the Math Google Classroom assignment 100 Hanging It Up. We didn't finish it on Friday so that everyone could have more time to work on their Science projects.

For the rest of the week we will work on the following assignments, 101 Practice 6.6.05, 102 Vari-Apples, and 103 Border Tiles. If we have time we will also do assignment 104 Products and Sums.

Science - Monday, we are going to wrap up the Potential Energy Efficiency Design Challenge, including the conclusion to the Lost Colony of Vega Prime story.

Here's a video showing students what they need to do to complete their project (click here).

Tuesday, we are going to learn about sketchnoting to prepare for Thursday's North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) lesson on the history of Chimacum Creek.

To learn about tomorrow's April 1 Artemis II launch, we will cover the mission and how to access Slooh team Slooh accounts to book telescope missions!

Wednesday, we are going to practice using digital microscopes for the Friday NOSC benthic macroinvertebrate activity.

Thursday NOSC restoration steward history of Chimacum Creek lesson - students will be taking sketchnotes of the lesson.

Friday NOSC returns with sample benthic macroinvertebrates from Chimacum Creek at HJ Carroll Park. Students will learn how to identify the macros to determine the biological integrity of Chimacum Creek.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the morning.)

Any work that is not completed during class time becomes homework so that students don't fall behind and so that all students can access ALL the learning.

Regular HW available for anyone who needs it -
For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence. Students can also finish or go back through any online assignment once we complete it in class on a computer, tablet, or phone.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork, they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well
 on computers, tablets, or phones.

Quarter 3, Week 8, 3-23 to 3-27

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we might only complete three or four Math assignments because we need to spend a bit more time on our robotics projects so that we can finish them this week (next week we are officially starting our Environmental Stewardship Project with two class visits from the North Olympic Salmon Coalition or NOSC).

We will most likely get through Math Google Classroom assignments 097 Weight for It, 098 Practice 6.6.02, and 099 Hanging Around. If we get enough done, we can start 100 Hanging it Up.

Science - This week is the deadline for student teams to program their robots to perform their assigned tasks, including measuring mass, height, and velocity to calculate the potential and kinetic energy used by the robots. Teams are considering how efficiently they can build their robots.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the morning.)

Upcoming field trips AND NatureBridge Outdoor Education Trip - Send the completed permission slips with your child as soon as you get those completed.

Quarter 3, Week 7, 3-16 to 3-20

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - Monday, we will have our last unit 4 practice (Math Google Classroom assignment 094 6.4 Practice Day 2). Then on Tuesday we will take the Unit 4 end-of-unit assessment, assignment 095, and on Wednesday and Thursday we will complete the end-of-unit assessment reflection, assignment 096.

Since we will have the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) starting in April, after spring break, and since there is quite a bit of algebra on the 6th-grade Math SBA, we are going to skip Unit 5 on Decimals and jump to Unit 6 on Expressions and Equations. Friday will start with the pre-unit check, assignment 097.

Science - Student teams will continue to work on their Science Google Classroom assignment 021 Potential Energy Efficiency Design Project. Teams are building and programming their robots, and once their robots can do their job, they will measure the mass, height change, and velocity to calculate the potential and kinetic energy of their robotic jobs!

Friday, March 26, is the deadline for this project because we will be starting our Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship project the week after!

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the morning.)
