6th-grade Science

Monday to Thursday - Many students have not yet completed their Faraday Golfing Machine blog posts so they need time to work on those.

Then we will begin the second unit where students will learn about Circuits and Switches!  This is when students will get to actually use the robotic EV3 Brick and practice using the sensors.

HW - None unless students start falling behind. Homework is not assigned unless students need more time to complete classwork.

Friday - I will have a sub today while I travel to Spokane to work with teachers there showing them how I use Classcraft and 3D GameLab with students!

Today, students will work on their 3D GameLab quests.

This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.
8th-grade Science

Monday to Wednesday - We will continue working on Lesson 2, part 1, on pages 13 to 15. Then we will do the reading on pages 16 to 19.

Then we will spend some time practicing using Punnett Squares! Students will learn how to figure the probability of having offspring with certain traits based on trait dominance, incomplete dominance, and codominance. :)

HW - Students need to fix the answers that they got wrong on their Weather Exams. Students can also complete any missing 3D GameLab quests at home.

Thursday and Friday - I will have a sub both of these days while I travel to Spokane to work with teachers there showing them how I use Classcraft and 3D GameLab with students!

While I am gone students will work on their 3D GameLab quests including fixing their Weather Exams.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with All The Right Type.
  3. Play World of Warcraft to level up your character! OR Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab.
HW - No homework is assigned unless a student falls behind. If your child falls behind, he or she can catch up on their Keyboarding and on their 3D GameLab assignments using any device that has an Internet connection. To practice keyboarding, a device with a full keyboard is best. Kids can also do their keyboarding practice and 3D GameLab assignments from home if they want to get ahead.

Monday, I am sending home permission slips for students who got selected to participate in a live telecast from the International Space Station (ISS) at the Galaxy Theaters in Gig Harbor on Tuesday, December 12! Students applied and Mrs. Stvartak and I selected 77 to attend! Five of them even got their questions selected to represent Chimacum Middle School! If your child cannot go or the permission slip doesn't get back to us this week, we will offer the seat to students on the waiting list so please fill out and sign that permission as soon as you can and have your child bring it to school. We will also need six parent chaperones so be on the lookout for a chance to sign up on Bloomz. We only have room for 77 students and six parents so we'll take those whose child was invited on a first come, first served basis.
