Tuesday to Friday -  This week students will continue to practice programming their robots so when we start the challenges they will know how to program them. This week students who missed any of the MAP tests will get to take it.  If the weather permits, either Period 2 or 3, or both, will do fish trapping this week.

6th-grade Science Monday - No garden today - MAP Reading Test. My period 1 class will have Science class once everyone is done MAP testing. They will continue building their robots and learning how to use the Lego Mindstorms programming software. Tuesday - MAP Math Test. My period 2 class will have Science today once we are all done with MAP testing.   They will continue building their robots and learning how to use the Lego Mindstorms programming software. Wednesday - Today will be a regular Wednesday. All three classes will work on building and programming their robots. Period 3 will be able to set the fish traps today if the weather is safe. Thursday - MAP Language Test. My period 3 class will check the fish traps if we were able to set them yesterday. Then they will continue to work with their robots. Friday -  Robotics today. Teams will continue practicing programming their robots and learning how to use the sensors.

6th-grade Science Monday - Garden Day While in class, students will be able to finish their Coding in Minecraft eportfolio reflection. Tuesday through Friday -  This week we will start our Robotics unit. We will begin with an intro to robotics presentation. Then students will learn about the Lego Mindstorms EV3 kit. Teams will be assigned their kit then they will build their first robot to practice using the Lego Mindstorms programming software.  Once teams are ready, they will begin the first challenge called Sensabot. This week period 1 and period 2 will do the fish trapping if the weather permits. I we can get one trapping done, it will be period 1.  Note: Only Period 1 was able to go fish trapping this week.

Tuesday -  Students are going to reflect on what they learned working on the Coding in Minecraft Intro to Coding with MakeCode 3.0 by adding a page to their electronic portfolio! Part of the student reflection is sharing screenshots and videos of what they built and showing off the codes they wrote. Wednesday - Half Day Schedule Dismissal at 12:15 pm We will have all three classes today for an hour each! Students will use their time in class to finish their Coding in Minecraft Intro to Coding electronic portfolio reflection page. Thursday and Friday - No School for Thanksgiving!  This week period 1 will do the fish trapping if the weather permits.

Friday -  No School today - Veterans Day! This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. 6th-grade Science Monday - Mondays are Garden Day! Each class will spend 45 minutes every Monday doing garden work with Valerie and Katie, our amazing garden coordinators! Note: Kids who were in esports last year and are going to participate again this year will have their first meeting this Thursday, Sept 15. Permission slips are due. 6th-grade Science Monday - Labor Day - No School Tuesday -  6C Per 1 - Class intro and class syllabus handed out.  Experimental design - making slime! Record observations in Science notebooks. 6B Per 2 - Same as Period 1. 6A Per 3 - Same as Period 1. HW - Read the course syllabus and sign up for Classdojo. Let us know if you have any questions by messaging us on Classdojo. If students want to bring something for tomorrow's slime making experiments, they need to get that. If students wish to join the CES Minecraft Esports Club, please fill out the permission packet and have your child return to Mr. Gonzalez as soon as possible. Wednesday -  6C Per 1 - Each team needs to change one variable and repeat the experiment to see how the slime changes. Record observations in notebooks. 6B Per 2 - Same as Period 1. 6A Per 3 - Same as Period 1. Thursday -  6C Per 1 - Laptops assigned to all students. We will send a form home for those families who need to check out a laptop to use for the year. If families choose, students can either take their laptops home every day or leave them at school every day. We will go over caring for laptops. Students will sign up for their Science Google Classrooms and their Science Classcraft accounts. 6B Per 2 - Same as Period 1. 6A Per 3 - Same as Period 1. HW - If you would like to check out a laptop for your child to take home every day, please fill out the computer check out form. Friday -   6C Per 1 - Students will be completing a few more activities on their new laptops. I have a few Google Forms surveys and new students need to set up their electronic portfolios for the year. 6B Per 2 - Same as Period 1. 6A Per 3 - Same as Period 1.
