Quarter 1, Week 4, 9/25 to 9/29

6th-grade Science

Monday - Today students will work on the Observation vs Inference Cubes Activity. 

Tuesday - Today students will complete the cube activity and then work on 3D GameLab quests.

HW - Today from 6pm to 8pm is Back to School Night! Parents, come to the auditorium at 6pm with your middle schooler.

Wednesday - Today students will complete a Mt Saint Helens Pear Deck activity.

Thursday - Today we will continue working on the MSH Pear Deck activity. Once the Takeaway documents are published, I will show students how to correct any parts they got wrong and use the documents as their Mt Saint Helens notes.

Friday - Today students will be working on 3D GameLab to complete the beginning of year assignments, including starting their Science blog.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will finish Lesson 1 by finishing the Driving Question Board then reading pages 10 through 13 in the workbooks. Students will practice their annotation skills.

HW - Those who have not yet completed their Biome Commercial need to submit it this week. I will be available just about every day after school for students to use my laptops and to get help if they need it.

Tuesday - We will finish yesterday's reading, then move on to Lesson 2, part 2.1, What Makes Air Hot. Students will construct hand-drawn models of how air on Earth is heated.

Once we are done students can work on their 3D GameLab quests.

HW - Today from 6pm to 8pm is Back to School Night! Parents, come to the auditorium at 6pm with your middle schooler.

Wednesday - Lesson 2, part 2.1, What Makes Air Hot. Students will construct a model of how air on Earth is heated.

Thursday - Lesson 2, part 2.2, a lab to see how heat travels.

Friday - Finish yesterday's lab, then we will do the reading on pages 20 and 21. We will read together again to practice annotating science text.

When we are done, students will be able to work on their 3D GameLab quests.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with All The Right Type.
  3. Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab.
HW - Tuesday from 6pm to 8pm is Back to School Night! Parents, come to the auditorium at 6pm with your middle schooler.

6th-grade Science

Monday - Today students will begin using 3D GameLab for Science. They will begin their first few assignments that include a survey and setting up their notebooks.

Periods 1 and 2 will finish the Pear Deck we started last week.

HW - Help your parents sign up for Bloomz if you have not already.

Tuesday - Today students will complete an Observation vs Inference activity.

Wednesday - Observation vs Inference Cube Activity continued.

Thursday - Observation vs Inference Cube Activity continued.

Friday - Observation vs Inference Cube Activity continued.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Checking in today to see how the Biome Commercial scripts are coming along. 

HW - Help your parents sign up for Bloomz if you have not already.

Tuesday - Today teams should complete their Biome Commercials

Wednesday - Teams will share their Biome Commercials today! Then students will work on their 3D GameLab assignments, which include setting up their notebooks. 

Thursday - Students will get their Earth Science workbooks today, What Makes the Weather Change? We will begin Lesson 1 - What is Weather?

Friday - Today we will finish Lesson 1 - What is Weather?
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday - Students will continue to work on their WoW in Schools 3D GameLab assignments until our All The Right Type accounts are set up. Our tech department is busy and it's taking longer than usual to set up the accounts.

HW - None

Tuesday to Friday - Students will be working on the WoW in Schools assignments until the All The Right Type accounts are set up. Once the accounts are setup students will begin using All The Right Type to practice typing every day.

Quarter 1, Week 2, 9/11 to 9/15

6th grade Science

Monday - We will be working on Cispus activities all day today here at school. Students can bring their gear to leave here over night and they will take the 2:20pm bus home.

Bring gear to your 1st-period class!

HW - Come tomorrow with your daypack with your lunch and water bottle ready to go to Cispus!

Tuesday - Students can take their regular bus to school and we will leave for camp at about 8:15 or 8:30am. Make sure you have your daypack with a lunch and snacks.

Friday - Students need to be picked up from school at about 2pm. See you then!
6th grade Exploratory
Technology Lit

Monday - Today we will not have our regular 7th period class since we'll be working on Cispus activities. Students will meet with their HS Cispus Counselors during 5th period. They will work on their activity group Cispus banners.

HW - Come tomorrow with your daypack with your lunch and water bottle ready to go to Cispus!

Tuesday to Friday - Camp Cispus!
8th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - My 8th grade students will have a substitute teacher this week while I am at Camp Cispus.

Eighth graders will be working on the Biome Project they started last week. The goal is for teams to have their Biome Commercial done by Friday.

If they finish early they can work on the other 3D Gamelab quests.

6th-grade Science

Monday - No School - Labor Day!

Tuesday - Class Intro today and passing out paperwork to take home for homework. Students will begin using Classcraft and from now on Classcraft will be the opening activity while Mr. G takes attendance.

HW - Sixth graders were given their Cispus Packets! Please sign and return the field trip permission slip and health form tomorrow. If your child will need to take any medication at camp, get the authorization for medication form to a doctor so that our camp nurse can dispense the meds.

Kids also got my class intro sheet with the Bloomz code for parents to sign up for class updates.

Wednesday - Students will participate in a community building activity.

HW - A Cispus reminder was sent home with students. Turn in the field trip permission form and health form of the Cispus Packet tomorrow if you haven't already. Also, sign up for Bloomz if you haven't already. Visit the Parent's Corner if you need more information.

Thursday - Students will participate in a lab safety activity. Then students will learn how to use 3D GameLab to access, do, and submit their Science work.

HW - Another, yes a second, Cispus reminder was sent home with students.

Friday - Students will use 3D Gamelab to submit the first few assignments of the year: 
  1. Lab Safety
  2. Notebooking
  3. Blogging in Science.
HW - Bring Cispus gear on Monday to your 1st-period class to store it until we leave on Tuesday.
8th-grade Science

Monday - No School - Labor Day!

Tuesday - Class Intro today and passing out paperwork to take home for homework. Students will begin using Classcraft and from now on Classcraft will be the opening activity while Mr. G takes attendance.

HW - Eighth graders were given a syllabus packet with tons of information along with the Bloomz code for parents to sign up for class updates. Please fill out and return the family contact sheet so we can make sure we have current information.

Wednesday - Students will participate in a Lab Safety activity. Then students will start working on a Biome Project

HW - Sign up for Bloomz if you haven't already. Visit the Parent's Corner if you need more information.

Thursday - Mr. G will help students with the Biome Project so that they can work on it next week while the 6th grade is at Camp Cispus.

Friday - Mr. G will share ways students can make their Biome Commercials for the Biome Project

Thursday - Students will be setting up their All The Right Type accounts to begin the keyboarding portion of this class. 

Friday - Students will work on their keyboarding practice and then work on the 3D GameLab portion of this class.
