6th grade Science Monday - No School Today - Semester Break. HW - None Tuesday - Today I am looking for teams who have their lab Problem, Hypothesis, Procedure, and Data Table complete. Those that get the above approved by me will be able to begin the lab today or tomorrow. 2nd Period will be setting and retrieving fish traps this week. HW - None Wednesday - As student teams finish their experiment procedures and get them approved by me they will conduct their lab to figure out the best arrangements to get their motors to lift the most washers they can. HW - None Thursday - Today students should begin working on page 66 in their EMM books to calculate the maximum force exerted by their motors. HW - None Friday - First and Second period will be participating in Market Day today so they will not have Science class. Third period will have Science today. By today students should be completing lesson 7 on page 67 by answering the reflection questions. HW - None

6th grade Exploratory WoW in Schools (This is my 2nd period class come back for 4th period.) Monday - No School Today - Semester Break. HW - None Tuesday - Intro to the course today for my new group. Today I will begin seeing my 2nd period Science class for this exploratory! HW - Give your parents the course letter. Wednesday - Today students will log into their WoWinSchools to begin the pre-World of Warcraft assignments. HW - None Thursday - Students will be working on their WoWinSchools assignments. HW - None Friday - Same as yesterday. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr Day! HW - Have a great day! Tuesday - Today we will work on assessment probes on forces, specifically friction and gravity. This week 1st period will set and retrieve the fish traps. HW - None Wednesday - Today students will take an Energy and Forces test. HW - None Thursday - Today students will begin preparing their lesson 7 lab on the Force of a Motor. HW - None Friday - End of the second quarter (and first semester, which means we're halfway through the school year)! Today students will continue to prepare their lab. Students get to choose the variable they will test and then design an experiment to test their variable so we can determine the best way to get our motors to lift the most washers they can. HW - None

6th grade Exploratory WoW in Schools (This is my 1st period class come back for 4th period.) Monday - No School - Martin Luther King, Jr Day! HW - Have a great day! Tuesday - Today students will take their final typing test to see if they've improved. Students will also take the course final self-assessment. HW - None Wednesday - Today students will continue playing the Horde side of World of Warcraft. This is where students get to experience the story from the other side (those who were our enemy)! HW - None Thursday - Continue playing as the Horde. HW - None Friday - Today is the last day this class will meet. We will enjoy one last day of playing World of Warcraft together. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - Today we took part in the Ocean 180 video judging project. Students are judging 10 ocean science videos made by scientists sharing their research! It was educational and our kids are helping choose the best videos. This week 3rd period will set and retrieve the fish traps. HW - None Tuesday - Early Release Schedule today. I will have a sub today while I attend a WA STEM PD meeting in Seattle. Students worked on their 3D GameLab assignments today, which means they get more time to work on their Market Day simple machine exhibits. HW - None Wednesday - Early Release Schedule today. Same as yesterday, only I'm back so no sub today. :) HW - None Thursday - Today we will finish judging the Ocean 180 videos. Then we are going to work on some assessments on energy and forces. HW - None Friday - We are going to continue taking some energy and forces assessments today. Time to check kids understandings of what we've been studying. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - Welcome back! Today we will start by reviewing our Classroom Promises so that we can start the new year off in a great way, watching out for each other. Then I have a great article on a scientist that won a Nobel Prize for building a better light bulb! (Fits our curriculum perfectly.) We will discuss the article after everyone has read it. HW - None Tuesday - Today I have a slideshow to share with students about the skills they are gaining in Science this year. Then I'm going to get them ready to learn about simple machines so they can include Science in their Market Day booths on Jan 30! HW - Depends on what you need to get done that you are behind on. Check 3D GameLab and you'll know what you need to do. This quarter ends Jan 23 so you have time to show what you've learned! :) Wednesday to Friday - This week students have time to research the simple machines used in the ancient civilization they are studying in their Humanities class. Students can then develop a demonstration or something like that for their Market Day booth. HW - Same as yesterday.

6th grade Exploratory WoW in Schools (This is my 1st period class come back for 4th period.) Monday - Welcome back! Today we will spend the period in my Science room practicing typing and catching up on the World of Warcraft assignments. This group of students has three weeks left of this course because the semester ends on Jan 23! HW - None Tuesday to Friday - We will spend the rest of the week playing so that everyone can get to past level 15. Those who are already past level 15 or at level 15 will be doing the Deadmines Dungeon with me. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday to Friday - This week 6th graders need to finish EMM Lesson 6 (they need to answer the three reflection questions and show them to me before they can complete the quest). This week's focus is on DISCOURSE. I showed students the definition and focused on how it's having a formal discussion on a topic either verbally, face to face, or written, which can mean online. Some students have blogged enough that they are ready to comment on other blogs and have a discussion on the class topics we are studying! Some students have also used our online Shivtr discussion forum enough that they are ready to begin responding to other's posts and discuss what we are learning that way! Students will be working on their 3D GameLab Available or In-Progress quests in class. It's also their last chance to catch up on the class Star Trek story, the Adventures of the Starship Equinox, before the winter break. 1st per set the traps on Monday and retrieved them to ID and count fish on Tuesday. HW - None unless you need to do some catch up or make up work. When we get back from winter break we will do some learning about simple machines before we get to EMM Lesson 7 because simple machines ties in nicely to the ancient civilizations they are learning about for Market Day (happening on Jan 30, 2015!). 6th grade Exploratory WoW in Schools (This is my 1st period class come back for 4th period.) Monday to Friday - This week students will be playing WoW and continuing their character's adventure everyday except Wednesday. Wednesday students will do their typing lessons and work on their hero's journey assignments. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - Today teams will complete the final friction lab, Inquiry 6.3 testing whether surface area affects friction. HW - None Tuesday to Wednesday - For the rest of the week students will have time to work on their 3D GameLab Available or In-Progress quests.  A new quest for this week is the Hour of Code quest. Sixth graders will get to participate in this year's Hour of Code project as part of Computer Science Week! This week 1st period will be setting and retrieving the fish traps. - Due to weather, and the fact that I won't be here on Friday, I'm going to postpone 1st period's fish trapping until next week. HW - None Friday - I will have a sub today because I will be in Seattle to attend a conference. Students will work on their 3D GameLab Available or In-Progress quests. HW - None

We are not going to be in the computer lab tomorrow so students will do their Keyboarding and 3D GameLab work in class tomorrow. HW - None Tuesday - Today students will work on their Keyboarding practice work and their 3D GameLab work in class and not in the computer lab. HW - None Wednesday to Friday - Students will be playing WoW in the computer lab. Friday I will have a sub since I will be at a conference in Seattle. HW - None

This gives everyone a chance to catch up on any of their battery, energy, or elastic and gravitational force assignments. 3rd period will be setting fish traps today. HW - None Tuesday - Today we will begin the EMM Lesson 6 Friction lab preparation so that we can start the lab tomorrow. 3rd Period will retrieve the fish traps today. HW - None Wednesday - Today students will complete the EMM Lesson 6.1 lab. HW - None Thursday - Today we will prepare for the EMM Lesson 6.2 lab.
