6th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - This week students will finish their Gear experiments to see how gear arrangement affects how many times a tire turns. They are collecting data to answer that question.

Students will then get time to work on their 3D GameLab assignments to catch up on those.

By the end of the week we should be starting the next STEM Robotics 101 activity called the Faraday Golfing Machine!

Here are the quests that students need to have completed by this week:
  1. Tell Your Parents
  2. Lab Safety
  3. Notebooking
  4. How do we know about something if we can't see, hear, or feel it?
  5. Tech Use
  6. Blogging in Science
  7. Start Your Blog
  8. Let's Go Camping
  9. Mt Saint Helens Pear Deck
  10. Intro to Robotics
  11. EV3 Intro
  12. EV3 Kit Overview
  13. Parts Exploration
  14. Gears
HW - None if you are all caught up.

Period 1, Group B, will try fish trapping this week. The path to the creek should be cleared by Wednesday so we'll try to set the traps on Thursday and check them on Friday.
8th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - This week the plan is to finish Lesson 5, What Can Weather Maps Tell Us, and prepare for the end of the quarter by adding work to portfolios. Students will get time to work on 3D GameLab as well before we begin Lesson 6, Does the Storm Model Fit Data From a Storm?

Here are the quests that students need to have completed by this week:

  1. Lab Safety
  2. Notebooking
  3. Parent Communication
  4. Tech Use
  5. Electronic Portfolio
  6. Biome Journalism Project
  7. What is Weather?
  8. What Makes Air Hot?

  12. What Happens to the Hot Air?
  13. Weather vs Climate
  14. What Can Weather Maps Tell Us?
  15. Time to Add to Your Science Portfolio
  16. Fronts
HW - If you are all caught up on 3D GameLab, then you are good to go there. This week's homework will be the Lesson 5 reading on pages 47 through 50 of your IQWST workbook. Remember to answer the prompts and annotate your reading the way we practiced in class.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with All The Right Type.
  3. Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab.
HW - No homework is assigned unless a student falls behind. If your child falls behind, he or she can catch up on their Keyboarding and on their 3D GameLab assignments using any device that has an Internet connection. To practice keyboarding, a device with a full keyboard is best. Kids can also do their keyboarding practice and 3D GameLab assignments from home if they want to get ahead.
