Quarter 1, Week 6, 10-5 to 10-9

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Mondays - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

Monday to Friday -

Math - This week we will complete the following assignments,
021 Plenty of Polyhedra
022 Practice 6.1.10
023 Practice 6.1.11
024 Practice 6.1.12
025 Face Value

The lessons above will bring us to the end of the surface area section of Unit 1. That means that by next Wednesday we will be taking the end-of-unit assessment.

Science - This week we will work on the following:
Students will take another survey to provide information about what they already know about the topics we are going to be studying in Science. I will be asking about familiarity with Legos and designing and building things, as well as familiarity with robotics and programming robots or other similar items. The survey also contains questions about environmental topics, especially local issues, as we begin to collect data on Chimacum by trapping fish to identify and count them.

Then we have an AI activity to learn more about it and especially to determine when, if ever, it's okay to use AI for learning and, more importantly, when to NOT use AI because it will NOT help students learn.

Fish Trapping if the weather is safe!
6G will set the traps on Wednesday, then retrieve the traps on Thursday to ID and count the fish.

6B will set their traps on Thursday and retrieve the traps on Friday to ID and count the fish.

===================

Any work that is not completed during class time becomes homework so that students stay caught up and so that all students can access ALL the learning.

Regular HW available for anyone who needs it -
For Math, students have a workbook that they can take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence. Students can also finish or review any online assignment once we complete it in class on a computer, tablet, or phone. The workbook will stay at home, and students can rip out completed pages for me to check for accuracy.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork, they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well
on computers, tablets, or phones.
Email me or message me on ClassDojo with any questions.
