6th grade Science Monday - This week 6th graders will work on their lesson 6 lab on friction, part 6.3! On this part of the lab students will investigate whether or not surface area has any impact on friction. Here are the 6th grade Standards and Learning Targets we are working on right now: Energy and Forces. And here is a list of the Science vocabulary words we've been learning: Vocab. HW - None if you are all or mostly caught up. You don't have to do all the past 3D GameLab assignments but the more you do the better because you'll learn more Science (and there have been at least 50 assignments thus far)! Tuesday - Continue working on 6.3. HW - See Monday Wednesday - Same as Tuesday. HW - See Monday Thursday - Same as Tuesday. Those who finish 6.3 will complete the Friction Quest and begin working on the Friction Blog quest. HW - See Monday Friday - Today we had a late start due to snow. All classes met for about 30 minutes. Same as Yesterday. HW - Have a great Holiday Season! | 8th grade Science Monday - This is the last week where 8th graders will work on leveling their WoW characters. When we return from Winter Break 8th graders will work on organizing and classifying the living things of the virtual world, Azeroth! Here are the 8th grade Standards and Learning Targets we are working on right now: Structure and Function. And here is a list of the Science vocabulary words we've been learning: Vocab. And here are ISTE Technology Standards that fit this World of Warcraft project very well: The following experiences with technology and digital resources are examples of learning activities in which students might engage during Grades 6–8 (ages 11–14 - here's a link to the entire document in pdf form): 1. Describe and illustrate a content-related concept or process using a model, simulation, or concept-mapping software. (Connected to the following standards - 1. Creativity and Innovation and 2. Communication and Collaboration) The ISTE Standards (pdf file link, two that fit this project stated below) 1. Creativity and Innovation Students demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. a. Apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes b. Create original works as a means of personal or group expression c. Use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues d. Identify trends and forecast possibilities 2. Communication and Collaboration Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. a. Interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media b. Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats c. Develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with learners of other cultures d. Contribute to project teams to produce original works or solve problems HW - Work on any missing 3D GameLab assignments. The more you do the more Science you'll learn and there's a lot to learn this year if you work hard (we are at over 50 assignments now so the closer you are to that many completed the better)! Tuesday - Continue playing WoW to level up their characters. HW - Same as Monday. Wednesday - Same as yesterday. Thursday - Today students will work on page 16 of their Diversity of Life eBook (on the iPads) to use the microscopes to look at paramecia (we may also start page 20 on amoeba)! HW - See Monday. Friday - Today we had a late start due to snow. All classes met for about 30 minutes. Students will have to time to work on any past 3D GameLab assignments. HW - Have a great Holiday Season! |
