6th grade Science Monday - Today 6th graders will be going down to the creek to gather their water quality data.  Back in class students will continue to work on their Water pollution webquest. Students should be writing their Public Service Announcements (PSA). By now students should be finished writing the 1st drafts of their PSA so they can start to edit and revise by typing it into their blogs. Once students are ready I will have them put water pollution pictures on their PSA blogs. HW - None, unless you are behind (meaning that you have not started to write your PSA. Tuesday - Same as yesterday. HW - See Monday Wednesday - I will have a sub today to attend an iPad conference in Seattle. Students will work on their Public Service Announcements. Those who are done will begin researching their water quality parameter (dissolved oxygen, pH, temp, flow rate, or turbidity) to learn about what they mean and what their data mean. HW - See Monday Thursday - Today 5th and 6th periods will go to the creek to collect more data (3rd period will be testing during their regular Science time - the Reading MSP). Back in class students will continue to work on their PSA or their water quality parameter study. HW - See Monday Friday - Same as yesterday. HW - See Monday

8th grade Science Monday - Today 2nd period spent time in the commons choosing Odyssey Totem Groups. Back in class we went over the MSP practice test from last week. Fourth period worked on the last short answer question on the practice MSP test from last week. We went over all the responses. HW - None, unless you are behind and need to do some catch up work at home.  Tuesday - Today Ms. Fogerson, the high school counselor, will join us to help 8th graders schedule their 9th grade classes for next year. HW - See Monday Wednesday - I will have a sub today to attend an iPad conference in Seattle. Students will work on their genetics quests as they finish their Bikini Bottom Genetics activity (2nd period will be starting it today). Those who finish the Bikini Bottom Genetics activity will begin the Punnett Squares drawing activity. The Genetics quests are: Genetics Punnett Squares Bikini Bottom Genetics Punnett Squares Drawing HW - See Monday Thursday - Today we will go over the Bikini Bottom Genetics activity. Then students will continue to work on their Punnett Squares drawing and their genetics quests. I will have another sub 2nd period while I proctor one of the 6th grade groups. I will be here for my 4th period class. HW - See Monday Friday - Second period will be testing today - the Reading MSP, so they will not have Science today.. Fourth period will be working with their totem groups on Odyssey activities. HW - See Monday

6th grade Science Monday - Today teams will continue to work on their Water pollution webquest (teams need to be done answering the questions and working on writing their public service announcement) while I train the rest on how to use the water quality testing equipment. HW - None unless you have missing work. Tuesday - Today we will go down to the creek and start collecting our water quality data! Back in class students will continue to work on their Water pollution webquest (students should be writing their Public Service Announcements). HW - None unless you have missing work. Wednesday - Same as Tuesday. HW - None unless you have missing work. Thursday - I will have a sub today because I will be meeting with the District Tech Committee to continue writing our new District Tech Plan. Students will continue to work on their Public Service Announcements. First drafts should be finished today so they can start editing by correcting grammar and spelling mistakes. HW - None unless you have missing work. Friday - Same as Tuesday (creek again!). Then working on PSA. HW - None unless you have missing work.

8th grade Science Monday - Today we finished working on our Carnation genetics packet to learn about incomplete dominance. Then we practiced using Punnett Squares with human traits to determine the chances of inheriting traits from parents! Cool stuff. HW - None unless you have missing work. Tuesday - Today we took a practice Punnett Square quiz to practice some more. We checked the quiz in class. HW - None unless you have missing work. Wednesday - Today the High School Counselor, Barb Fogerson, will be visiting 8th graders to show them how they will select classes for high school! Ask your child to see the packet so you can start choosing classes for next year! We will take a day some time soon in class for students to register for 9th grade classes. HW - None unless you have missing work. Thursday - I will have a sub today because I will be meeting with the District Tech Committee to continue writing our new District Tech Plan. Students will take a practice MSP test and start correcting it with the sub. We will finish going over the test and how to answer the questions, especially the 2 point questions, next week. HW - None unless you have missing work. Friday - Today we will be in the computer lab to take the online practice MSP test for Science. Students will learn what the test is like. HW - None unless you have missing work.

6th grade Science Monday - Today teams are asked to finish their note-taking so they can share what they've learned with each other and answer the seven water pollution questions as part of the Water pollution webquest. HW - Get your field trip permission slip, for our trips to Chimacum Creek for water quality testing, signed by a parent and turned in to Mr. G ASAP. Tuesday - As teams work on their Water pollution webquest I am preparing the equipment so I can start training kids how to use it to collect water quality data. The plan is to start going down to the creek this coming Monday, April 21. HW - Same as Monday. Wednesday - Today is our Student-Led Conference Day! May your conferences be rewarding! 6th grade Science Monday - This Thursday is our last midterm of the year! In order to be on track for successfully completing 6th grade Science, 6th graders should be getting close to 2000XP! (3500XP out of 4500 possible is the minimum needed to successfully complete the course by June 13!) Today we will start by completing the energy and forces assessment quest. I'm not sure what to do with those who aren't done and do not finish today. We will end today's class by beginning our Chimacum Creek Water Stewardship Project! HW - None Tuesday - Students will begin learning about water pollution via a webquest project. HW - None Wednesday - Water pollution webquest. HW - None Thursday - Water pollution webquest. HW - None Friday - Water pollution webquest. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - Students still need more time to finish the ten Lesson 10 Assessment questions from last week's Tuesday lab.  Once students are done answering the 10 questions they were supposed to type their answers into their blogs so that we can go over the answers. I'm still waiting for most 6th graders to finish. Once they all finish then we can go over the answers. Their completed test and peer scoring will all be on their blogs to share at student-led conferences on April 16.  HW - If you can finish typing your test answers on your blog for homework that would be most helpful. Tuesday - I will give students today to complete their test blogs. I really want to go over the answers so that we can finish our energy work and move on to our new topic. We will be ready to move on to the topic of Water Stewardship once we correct those tests. HW - See Monday. Wednesday - Kids are still typing the answers to the test questions onto their blogs so that we can correct. This way their electronic portfolios (their blogs) will be complete with ALL their Energy and Forces learning! Thursday - I will have a sub today so that I can work with our District Tech Committee. We are reworking our District's Technology Plan. Those who are still NOT done are typing away today (hopefully). Friday - Today we will go over the answers to the test questions. Those who for one reason or another did not get their answers typed onto their blogs can correct their own on paper and then report to me, via their blogs, how they did. HW - Have a great Spring Break!

8th grade Science Monday - Eighth graders are still working on their Cells assignments. There will be a test on Cells this Friday. Here are the cell quests that students are working on this week: -Cells? -Cell Stuff Videos -How is a Cell Like A Factory? -How Big are Cells? -Plant Cells vs Animal Cells -Ribbon of Life HW - None if you are all caught up. Tuesday - Same as yesterday. HW - See Monday - there is no specific homework because students can work on anything they do not finish in class at home. If students keep up with their work at school then they should have NO homework. In order to get their Science assignments at home students need access to the Internet. Wednesday - Same as Monday HW - See Monday Thursday - I will have a sub today so that I can work with our District Tech Committee. We are reworking our District's Technology Plan. Same as Monday HW - See Monday Friday - Today students will take their Cells test. They will get the results of the test after Spring Break where they can choose to retake the test to improve their answers. HW - Have a great Spring Break!

6th grade Science Monday - Class time was used today to complete as many of the following quests as possible: -Power Blog (Lesson 9) -Work on Your Blog (Lesson 8) -Motor Force Blog (Lesson 7) -Forces -Energy and Forces -Friction Blog (Lesson 6) -Elastic Force & Gravity Blog (Lesson 5) HW - Catch up if you've fallen behind. Tuesday - Today we started the Lesson 10 Unit Assessment with a great lab! Students are assessed on how well they follow the directions of the lab and collect accurate data. HW - See Monday Wednesday - Today students are going to finish answering the questions about yesterday's lab. Then they are going to type their answers on their blogs so that we can correct them. HW - See Monday Thursday - Today students are going to take a short quiz as part of the Lesson 10 Unit Assessment.  If students are ready we can go over the answers to the lab questions. They are going to use the comment sections of their blogs to grade each other's responses! Totally paperless! HW - See Monday Friday - I will have a sub today because I get to go to WE Day!! Today students will finish whatever they did not complete this week. Those that are caught up will be working on their 3D GameLab Available and/or In Progress quests. HW - See Monday
