Monday - This week teams will finish their Potential Energy Challenge projects. Students are designing robots that can perform a job using the least amount of power possible.
By Wednesday we should be starting the next challenge, the Hydro Dynamics Challenge. If it turns out that teams need more time to finish the Potential Energy Challenge, I might extend that project. We'll see.
HW - None if you are all caught up. If you need to finish something that you didn't have time to complete in class, finish it at home for homework.
Friday - Today for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period Chimacum Middle School students will be completing their Choose-A-Thon events as they help raise money to keep our amazing Outdoor Education field trips! Once students complete their events they need to collect money from their sponsors and bring the money to the office.

Monday to Friday - This week 8th graders are going to finish the Sphero Chariot Challenge! Students are designing chariots for the Sphero robots, some will be 3D Printing their designs! Teams will then program their chariots to race around the classroom!

| 6th-grade Keyboarding
Monday to Friday - Our daily routine is as follows:
- Check Classcraft.
- Practice Keyboarding with Typing.Com.
- Work on the WoW in Schools curriculum using 3D GameLab, OR Continue playing the game to level up your character!
HW - No homework is assigned unless a student falls behind. If your child falls behind, he or she can catch up on their Keyboarding and on their 3D GameLab assignments using any device that has an Internet connection. To practice keyboarding, a device with a full keyboard is best. Kids can also do their keyboarding practice and 3D GameLab assignments from home if they want to get ahead. |

Choose-A-Thon Info
This Friday, March 9, from 8am to 10:30am, during Periods 1, 2, and 3, students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will be participating in this year’s Choose-A-Thon Outdoor Education Fundraising Event! Your child can participate in any of nine fun activities (minimum of one, maximum of three for each student). All your child needs to do is get pledges for completing their activity. Sponsors can pledge money per item your child completes, such as number of free throws in 20 minutes, or they can give your child a flat fee to support Outdoor Education. All monies collected must be delivered to the Chimacum Middle School office. Kids can bring cash or checks made out to Chimacum Middle School. Money can be brought in prior to the actual event this Friday or by Monday. If your child can’t collect their pledges by Monday they can still bring in the money at any time. If we raise more than $2,000 we will celebrate with ice cream (everyone)! And the grade level that raises the most money will get a little something special.
Chimacum Middle School must be one of the only schools in the world that offers its students an outdoor education experience at each grade level! These trips do cost more than the fees families pay and through fundraising and generous donations we can keep offering Cispus, Long Boats, and Odyssey to all of our students. This fundraising event was organized by two Chimacum High School students as part of their senior project!
If your child does not wish to participate we will have a study hall available for kids to work on homework or missing work. If your child wishes to participate as a spectator we ask that they bring a donation to support Outdoor Education (minimum of $5, please).
