Monday - No School - Labor Day!

Tuesday - Class Intro today and passing out paperwork to take home for homework (see below for links in case you need a digital copy). 

Then student teams will participate in the great Marshmallow Challenge!

HW - Sixth graders were given their Cispus Packets! Please sign and return the field trip permission slip and health form tomorrow. If your child will need to take any medication at camp, get the authorization for medication form to a doctor so that our camp nurse can dispense the meds.

Kids also got my class intro sheet with the Bloomz code for parents to sign up for class updates.

Wednesday to Friday - Students will begin using Classcraft and from now on Classcraft will be the opening activity while Mr. G takes attendance. 

Then students will participate in a community building activity.

HW - A Cispus reminder was sent home with students. Turn in the field trip permission form and health form of the Cispus Packet tomorrow if you haven't already. Also, sign up for Bloomz if you haven't already. Visit the Parent's Corner if you need more information.
8th-grade Science

Monday - No School - Labor Day!

Tuesday - Class Intro today and passing out paperwork to take home for homework. 

Then student teams will participate in a Lab Safety ESCAPE ROOM activity!

HW - Eighth graders were given a syllabus packet with tons of information, if you ever need it, along with the Bloomz code for parents to sign up for class updates. All you need to do is to sign up for the class Bloomz! :) 

Wednesday - Mr. G will continue with yesterday's class intro presentation to introduce this quarter's topic of study - WEATHER!

Then students will begin using Classcraft and from now on Classcraft will be the opening activity while Mr. G takes attendance. Students will start working on their Classcraft Quests to set up their notebooks and get ready for the new school year.

Thursday - Mr. G will help students with the Biome Project so that they can work on it next week while the 6th grade is at Camp Cispus.

Friday - Mr. G will share ways students can make their Biome Commercials for the Biome Project

Tuesday - Class Intro, sign in to Classcraft accounts and begin the Aluminum Boat Challenge. 

HW - Get parent signature on the course syllabus and return it to Mr. G this week.

Wednesday - Debrief the Aluminum Boat Challenge.

Begin the problem-solving activity. Students will be using Classcraft to keep track of their assignments. 

Thursday - Today we students will use their problem-solving techniques to solve an app problem taking into account the users needs.

Friday - Today we will begin a set of activities looking at the different types of users when it comes to solving problems and creating products for different types of users.

6th-grade Science

Monday to Thursday - This week students will complete a final project evaluation for their Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship Project.

Then students will complete their final project blog posts! That will complete their Environmental Stewardship work.

HW - None

Friday - Last Day of School! Today we will be on a Late Start/Early Release schedule. 

Students will go to the auditorium to watch an awards ceremony, a talent show, an end of year slideshow, and then to have lunch purchased by the ASB! This is always a fun day!
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today 8th graders will present the results of their urinalysis. Each team will share the diagnosis of their patient based on the results.

Then they will take an end of course survey.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today we will have dissections. Teams will choose from dissecting crayfish or grasshoppers to compare marine animals to terrestrial animals.

Then students will choose to dissect a frog or a fish to compare marine animals to terrestrial animals again.

Wednesday - Today 8th graders will be a field trip so they will have no science.

Thursday - Today we will be watching the movie Wonder so 8th graders will have no science.

Friday - Last Day of School! Today we will be on a Late Start/Early Release schedule. 

Students will go to the auditorium to watch an awards ceremony, a talent show, an end of year slideshow, and then to have lunch purchased by the ASB! This is always a fun day!
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Thursday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with Typing.Com.
  3. Monday students will take their characters to Westfall in the game so we can all meet up together. Then on Tuesday, we will have a dueling tournament to crown a class champion!
  4. We will have our final keyboarding test on Wednesday to see how much students have improved. Wednesday, students will complete their last 3D GameLab quests as well.
Friday - Last Day of School! Today we will be on a Late Start/Early Release schedule. 

Students will go to the auditorium to watch an awards ceremony, a talent show, an end of year slideshow, and then to have lunch purchased by the ASB! This is always a fun day!

Monday and Tuesday - Student teams will practice their Youth Summit sharing circle presentations so they will be ready this Friday.

HW - None if you are all ready for your sharing circle presentation on Friday.

Wednesday - Market Day will happen today during 1st, 2nd, and 3rd period so there will be no Science today.

Thursday - Same as Monday and Tuesday. Today is our last chance to prepare for tomorrow's field trip presentations.

Friday - Youth Summit Field Trip today. We will leave during 1st period and return by 2pm.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will finish correcting page 2 so that we can do the Pages 3 through 8 activity to collect steps, heart rate, skin temp, carbon dioxide, and oxygen data before and after exercise.

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Tuesday to Friday - We will be working on the Intro to Chemistry unit this week to learn more about how food provides us with energy.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday - Memorial Day - No School

Tuesday - Today students will finish planning their Youth Summit posters. Each table group needs to prepare a poster to share what they have been learning. 

HW - None if you are done with your work. You only have homework if you did not finish something in class.

Wednesday - Today students will be taking the ELA Performance Task SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period.

Then my 2nd period class will have Science.

Thursday - Today students will be taking the Math Performance Task SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period.

Then my 3rd period class will have Science.

Friday - Market Day was moved to June 6 so today we will have our regularly scheduled class.

By today posters should be completed so that teams can prepare their notecards and practice their presentations for next Friday's field trip to Belfair for the Environmental Youth Summit.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Memorial Day - No School

Tuesday to Friday - Tuesday students will finish formulating questions about how the body uses food for energy. Then we will continue working on our Intro to Chemistry unit studying how the body uses food for energy.

HW - None if you are all caught up. You only have homework when you don't finish work in class.

Monday - This week student teams need to graph and analyze their data as well as learn what their data means so they can start making posters for the June 8 Youth Summit.

HW - None if your Public Service Announcement is done.

Tuesday - Today students will take the ELA CAT SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period.

After the test, my 1st period class will have Science before lunch to keep working on what we started on Monday.

Wednesday - Same as Monday

Thursday - Today students will take the Math CAT SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period. 

After the test, my 2nd period class will have Science to continue working on what we started on Monday.

Friday - No School - Snow Make-Up Day (have a great 4-day weekend!)
8th-grade Science

Monday to Thursday - This week students will finish the Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration work that we started on Friday then students will review what they learned with a Kahoot.

Then we will begin the 1st unit of our Intro to Chemistry.

6th-grade Science

Monday and Tuesday - First period students will be visiting Chimacum Creek today to collect water quality data using our water quality probes.

Second and Third period still have too many students who are not done with their PSA's so they will have to use first period's data. Second and third period students who are done with their PSA's will be able to move on to the other topics that we are learning while they wait for their classmates to complete their work.

HW - None if your PSA is done.

Wednesday - Today we will have a couple of retired Boeing Engineers visit during 2nd period to do a presentation on satellites for our 6th grade students! 

First and Third period students will continue the work we started on Monday.

Thursday - By today all students will use 1st period's data to graph and analyze how Chimacum Creek is doing this year.

Friday - Early Release for Rhody Weekend!

Today we will continue graphing and analyzing yesterday's data.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will finish practicing for the Science assessment (we started the practice test Friday).

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - Eighth graders will be taking their WA Comprehensive Assessment of Science exam in three parts, part 1 on Tuesday, Part 2 on Wednesday, and Part 3 on Thursday. Those who miss a day or need more time can finish their test during our make-up days and times.

Friday - Early Release for Rhody Weekend!

Monday - We are still waiting for several students to complete their Public Service Announcements so that teams can organize their Lego kits.

Once kits are organized, new teams will be chosen so that we can start going down to the creek and collect water quality data!

HW - Students need to finish their Public Service Announcements because they are overdue.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Students are still working on their Atoms quests. This week students will complete a WebQuest about cells so that we can start our new Chemistry unit. 

Eighth graders will also take a Science Practice Assessment to prepare for their real Science Assessment on May 17.

HW - Students need to finish their Atoms quests.
