Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday to Friday - The week 8 Student Blogging Challenge Google Form will close this Wednesday so students have until then to complete any of the challenges. Those who are done with all 8 challenges will be working on the Saturn's Moon naming activity. We will submit ideas for naming of 20 new moons discovered orbiting Saturn!  Then students will begin to study the Journey of a Hero as they begin to develop their very own story. HW - None unless you want to catch up on any late Student Blogging Challenge posts.

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week teams will be finishing their sensor labs. Once teams collect their data and graph their data they will write conclusions. Their conclusions will become their sensor blog post. Once teams are finished publishing their sensor blog posts they will begin building their EV3 Robot and practicing/reviewing how to program their robot before they begin their first robot challenges! HW - None This week period 1 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday and Tuesday - Students will be working on the Week 8 and Final Week of this year's Student Blogging Challenge! HW - Finish the Student Blogging Challenge if you haven't already. Wednesday - Early Release Schedule. Same as Monday. Thursday and Friday - Thanksgiving Holiday Break!

6th-grade Science Monday and Tuesday - Teams are going to continue working on their Sensor Labs.  HW - None! Have a great Thanksgiving! Wednesday - Early Release Schedule. Same as Monday. Thursday and Friday - Thanksgiving Holiday Break! This week we will skip fish trapping. Period 1 will resume next week.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday to Friday - Work on the Week 7 student blogging challenge. Write your week 7 post then comments on students from other classes. HW - None unless you want to catch up on blogging challenge posts if you fall behind.

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week teams will finish exploring the features of the EV3 robot sensors. The assignment is called Port View and once teams are done with the Port View assignment they will begin the How Sensors Work assignment. Teams will design and carry out an experiment on one of the EV3 robot sensors to learn more about the sensor they choose. Then they will write a conclusion sharing what they learned from their experiment.  HW - The only homework so far is for students who have NOT completed their Faraday Golfing Machine blog post and/or their Robots blog post. Those who finished and got those two posts approved have no homework! 😀 This week period 3 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday - No School - Veteran's Day! HW - Time to begin Week 6! Students who are behind can catch up at home. Tuesday - Today is our garden day. Wednesday to Friday - Finish the Week 6 blogging challenge activity blog post. Then spend the rest of your time reading and commenting on blog posts from kids all over the world!

6th-grade Science Monday - No School - Veteran's Day! HW - Students were emailed their Mt Saint Helens test re-take scores. A minimum of 15 points is required to pass the test with a score 3 or meeting standard.  The Faraday Golfing Machine and Robots blog posts are due (those who didn't finish last week are supposed to complete it for homework). Tuesday to Friday - This week teams will clean up their Lego Mindstorms kits and organize them so that we can switch to new teams.  Then students will get some class time to complete the Circuits and Switches and the EV3 Circuit Pear Deck activities that students who have been done with their Faraday Golfing Machine and Robots blog posts did already. Then we will begin an activity to learn about the EV3 robot sensors, how they collect data, and the kids of data they collect so we can understand how they work. This week period 2 will set the fish traps one day, then return the next day to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. We always return the fish to the creek.

Period 1 will begin fish trapping this week, then Period 2 next week, and Period 3 the week after that. This week students who didn't get to take the Volcanoes Test or those who need to retake it will get a chance to take the test. HW - Study for the Mt Saint Helens Volcanoes test if you didn't get a chance to take it or if you need to retake it.  Friday -  I have a sub today. Students will be working on their Classcraft Quests to complete any that aren't yet done. Today we have a Veteran's Day Assembly, too, at 2:00 pm. Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday to Wednesday - Week 4 blogging challenge is a chance to catch up on the last three weeks. For those who are caught up you can write about anything you like! Remember to continue leaving comments on blog posts from kids in other schools. HW - Catch up on your blog posts including the Amazon Fires blog post and the first three weeks of the Student Blogging Challenge. Thursday and Friday - No School due to conferences. 6th-grade Science Monday to Wednesday - This week students need to finish the Faraday Golfing Machine challenge so they can write their Faraday Golfing Machine blog post and the Robots blog post.  HW - Catch up on missing assignments from the first quarter before we started Robotics. Passion Post Commenter Conferences Start Wednesday Evening - We will be available for those who signed up for tonight from 4 to 8 pm. Thursday (no school) - Conferences today will go from 7:30 to 9:30, from 10:00 to 12:00, and from 12:30 to 2:30. Friday (no school) - Conferences today from 7:30 to 9:30, and from 10:00 to 12:00 noon.

Mr. G's 6th-grade Homeroom Monday - Today we will star the Week 3 Student Blogging Challenge activity on using Creative Commons photos on blog posts! HW - Finish the Amazon post and any week challenge that you have not finished yet. Tuesday - Today we will visit the garden for the Chimacum Elementary Garden Lessons from Farmer Lex! Wednesday - Today is Library Day! Thursday and Friday - Finish the Week 3 blogging challenge and make sure you comment on as many blog posts from kids in other schools as you can.

6th-grade Science Monday to Friday - This week student teams will complete a Gears Lego activity as well as the Faraday's Law Lego activity. Then students will learn and/or review how circuits and switches work.   HW - By mid-week look for a letter coming home confirming your Parent/Teacher/Student Conference time slot for next week's conferences (or you will get a paper so that you can make your selection of time slots).
