Quarter 4, Week 6, 5/21 to 5/25

6th-grade Science

Monday - This week student teams need to graph and analyze their data as well as learn what their data means so they can start making posters for the June 8 Youth Summit.

HW - None if your Public Service Announcement is done.

Tuesday - Today students will take the ELA CAT SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period.

After the test, my 1st period class will have Science before lunch to keep working on what we started on Monday.

Wednesday - Same as Monday

Thursday - Today students will take the Math CAT SBAC test during 1st and 2nd period. 

After the test, my 2nd period class will have Science to continue working on what we started on Monday.

Friday - No School - Snow Make-Up Day (have a great 4-day weekend!)
8th-grade Science

Monday to Thursday - This week students will finish the Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration work that we started on Friday then students will review what they learned with a Kahoot.

Then we will begin the 1st unit of our Intro to Chemistry.

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Friday - No School - Snow Make-Up Day (have a great 4-day weekend!)
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Thursday - Our daily routine is as follows:
  1. Check Classcraft.
  2. Practice Keyboarding with Typing.Com.
  3. Students then play World of Warcraft to continue leveling up their character and playing through the story on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
  4. Tuesdays and Thursdays students will be working on 3D GameLab assignments based on the game.

6th-grade Science

Monday and Tuesday - First period students will be visiting Chimacum Creek today to collect water quality data using our water quality probes.

Second and Third period still have too many students who are not done with their PSA's so they will have to use first period's data. Second and third period students who are done with their PSA's will be able to move on to the other topics that we are learning while they wait for their classmates to complete their work.

HW - None if your PSA is done.

Wednesday - Today we will have a couple of retired Boeing Engineers visit during 2nd period to do a presentation on satellites for our 6th grade students! 

First and Third period students will continue the work we started on Monday.

Thursday - By today all students will use 1st period's data to graph and analyze how Chimacum Creek is doing this year.

Friday - Early Release for Rhody Weekend!

Today we will continue graphing and analyzing yesterday's data.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today we will finish practicing for the Science assessment (we started the practice test Friday).

HW - None if you are all caught up.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday - Eighth graders will be taking their WA Comprehensive Assessment of Science exam in three parts, part 1 on Tuesday, Part 2 on Wednesday, and Part 3 on Thursday. Those who miss a day or need more time can finish their test during our make-up days and times.

Friday - Early Release for Rhody Weekend!

Monday - We are still waiting for several students to complete their Public Service Announcements so that teams can organize their Lego kits.

Once kits are organized, new teams will be chosen so that we can start going down to the creek and collect water quality data!

HW - Students need to finish their Public Service Announcements because they are overdue.
8th-grade Science

Monday - Students are still working on their Atoms quests. This week students will complete a WebQuest about cells so that we can start our new Chemistry unit. 

Eighth graders will also take a Science Practice Assessment to prepare for their real Science Assessment on May 17.

HW - Students need to finish their Atoms quests.
6th-grade Keyboarding

Monday to Friday - This week students are supposed to finish their Public Service Announcements. Once they are done we will make new teams to learn how to test Chimacum Creek's water quality so that we can go down to the creek and collect water quality data!

HW - If students need more time to complete their Public Service Announcement, they need to do that at home for homework.
8th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - This week students will finish learning about atoms so that we can begin the next IQWST unit, Intro to Chemistry.

HW - None unless you do not complete the following 3D GameLab quests:

  1. Periodic Table Basics
  2. Atoms vs Elements
  3. Atomic Models
6th-grade Keyboarding

6th-grade Science

Monday - Today students in periods 1 and 2 need to complete their Hydro Dynamics Challenge Public Service Announcements (PSA). Students in Period 3 have today and Wednesday to complete their PSA's. 

HW - Remember to bring a lunch for tomorrow's field trip if you did not order one from our cafeteria. And wear shoes that cover your feet.

Tuesday - Today 6th graders will be at Finnriver Farms for this year's NOSC tree planting field trip. We will leave campus at 8am and return part way through 6th period.

Wednesday - Today we will be taking the ELA MAP test so I will not see my 1st and 2nd period classes.

My 3rd period class will have today to complete their PSA's.

Thursday - Today teams need to clean up their Lego Mindstorms kit and put them away ready to go for next year's 6th graders.

There will be new team assignments today as we prepare for the next phase of our Environmental Stewardship Project.

Friday - Teams will get their assignments today for the next phase of the Environmental Stewardship project.
8th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - Students who have not yet corrected their Physical Science Assessment need to finish on Monday. Those who need more time can finish it during lunch on Tuesday. If you still need time after that we can arrange after school time to help you learn what you missed.

Students will be catching up on their 3D GameLab quests, specifically the quests about atoms and elements. Those quests will help students prepare for our next unit of study, Introduction to Chemistry.

HW - None if you have completed over 25 3D GameLab quests. All 8th-grade students will be taking a Science Assessment this year on May 17 so the more quests you do on 3D GameLab the more you will know for the test! Mr. Gonzalez has put a lot of the learning that we didn't get to from our IQWST curriculum on 3D GameLab to help students learn the Science concepts.

Monday - Today 6th graders are going to complete a science critical thinking activity in preparation for studying climate change.

HW - Get ready for your Student-Led Conference tomorrow.

Tuesday - No regular school today for Student-Led Conferences.

Wednesday - Today we will have Olivia and Kory from the North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) prepare 6th graders for next week's field trip!

Thursday - Today students will be taking their Math MAP test during 1st and 2nd period. 

Then, during 3rd period, my second period class will get to work on their Hydro Dynamic Challenge. They need to get started on their Public Service Announcement blog post by today.

Friday - Today we will have Laura Tucker join us to continue our 6th graders learning about Climate Change!
8th-grade Science

Monday - Today 8th graders will have another chance to get their ePortfolios ready for tomorrow's conferences.

HW - Get ready for your Student-Led Conference tomorrow.

Tuesday - No regular school today for Student-Led Conferences. 

Wednesday - Today 8th graders will have a chance to correct their Physical Science tests. Teams will go over the answers to their tests and then we will correct them as a whole class.

Thursday - Newton's Laws Breakout activity today!

Friday - Eighth graders will be at their UW Engineering Days field trip today.

This week teams need to finish their Hydro Dynamics Challenge and record it to share on their blogs.

HW - Student-Led Conferences are happening next Tuesday, April 17. Contact your child's Eagle Time teacher if you have not scheduled your conference yet.

Thursday - Fourth quarter officially begins today.

Students will continue to work on their Hydro Dynamics Challenge. The goal is to be done today!

Friday - Students will be taking their spring Reading MAP test this morning. 

My 1st-period class will have Science today before lunch (my 2nd and 3rd period classes will not have Science class today).
8th-grade Science

Monday to Friday - Since the 3rd quarter is ending this week, Wednesday is the last day of the 3rd quarter, students will take the Physical Science assessment.

Once students are done with the assessment they will continue to work on their Science ePortfolios.
