6G Math & Science Monday and Thursday - In Math we are continuing our work with ratios from the Big Ideas Math book. Students are to bring their home copy of the Big Ideas Math book to school to get checked back in to our library. We will use our classroom copies for our Math work. In Science students have one more day of water quality testing on Chimacum Creek this week, Monday, as we continue to work on our Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship Project in preparation for this year's Youth Summit field trip on June 9. Monday 12:30 Garden Time

6B 5/6 Math & Science Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday - In Math 6th graders are continuing our work with ratios from the Big Ideas Math book. Monday and Thursday I will be collecting data on what students can do to determine how we are going to end the year. In Science students are going to continue water quality testing on Chimacum Creek this week as we work on our Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship Project in preparation for this year's Youth Summit field trip on June 9. Students are still working on 5.1, ratios, and 5.2, ratio tables. In Science students are going to begin water quality testing on Chimacum Creek this week as we continue our Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship Project. Monday morning NOSC returns for a lesson and activity on the benthic macros in Chimacum Creek. Monday 12:30 Garden Time

The field trip is on June 9 and we need chaperones so please consider volunteering to join us on June 9! :)

Students will finish section 5.1 on ratios and begin working on section 5.2 on ratio tables. Monday we will have a guest presentation by the North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC) to learn more about Chimacum Creek. This is part of our Ocean Guardian School's Environmental Stewardship Project that will the focus of our work for the rest of the year. In Science students will be wrapping up their robotics projects by adding a new section to their electronic portfolios to reflect on what they learned and accomplished. Once done, we will choose new teams for the environmental stewardship project and teams will choose water quality parameters to test and study. Monday 12:30 Garden Time

6G Math & Science Monday and Thursday - We started Chapter 5 in the book on ratios, 5.1 last week so this week we are going to spend more time on our Science Robotics project.  In Science teams are either working on the Lunar Soil Rover challenge or the Human Space Exploration Robotic Support challenge. This week all teams need to complete their projects. Monday 12:30 Garden Time

6B 5/6 Math & Science Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday - Sixth graders are going to finish Greatest Common Factor, 1.5, and then Least Common Multiple, 1.6. We will start Chapter 5, section 5.1, on ratios after we are done with GCF and LCM. Fifth graders will work on Unit 2, Section 1, starting on page 33 as well as finish this month's Number Corner project. Students need to finish page 33 to 36 so that we can correct them and move on to pages 38 to 40.  In Science teams are either working on the Lunar Soil Rover challenge or the Human Space Exploration Robotic Support challenge and this week all teams need to complete their projects.
