Quarter 3, Week 9, 3/23 to 3/27

6th-grade Science:

Week of March 23, 2020 - This week students need to work on, or finish, designing the solution they came up for the water pollution problem they are studying. (Here's the document students are typing on. My homeroom students, get your podcasts recorded and complete the Helping Hands quest assignment.)

- Students need to update us on their progress using this Flipgrid.

- Students can use any household items, including cardboard and recyclable plastic items all the way to Legos, to create a prototype of their solution. Students do NOT need to build or program a robotic solution unless they have a robot and can do so.

- Turn in the Hydro Dynamics Challenge on Google Classroom AND Classcraft once you are done building your prototype!

- Students who are done researching, taking notes, and building their prototype are ready to share their learning and ideas! You will begin working on the next Quest Assignment = Public Service Announcement.

Here are two sample Public Service Announcements from last year:

  1. New Continent to Be Named: The Great Pacific Ocean Garbage Patch
  2. Your Air is Bad, Fix It

Notice:

I already messaged every parent on Bloomz letting you know that Chimacum Schools ended the 3rd Quarter on March 16, the last day we spent with students face-to-face.

I also sent every parent a copy of my 3rd quarter report card on Bloomz letting you know how your child did on their physics unit. Students who got a 3 or a 4 are done with the test! Those who scored a 1 or a 2 will need to study more to retake the test. Here's the study guide that students are using to study.

Just let know when your child is ready and I'll assign them the retake. I just ask that you watch and confirm that your child took the test without using any notes and without looking anything up on the Internet.
