Quarter 2, Week 6, 12-16 to 12-20

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Winter Break from December 23 to January 3!
Happy Holidays!

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we will continue with Desmos Unit 3 work on ratios.

We will also complete some practice activities on Gimkit and Pear Practice to practice surface area and figuring out ratios and using proportional thinking!

Science - We are going to use the hot and cold water baseline data we got last week to brainstorm different experiments student teams can do then each team will choose a different manipulated variable to investigate.

We will also complete other activities to review what we learned about energy and energy transfer. We might even do some more work with Cyber Safety!

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

HW - For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well.

Quarter 2, Week 5, 12-9 to 12-13

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - We will work on Desmos Unit 3 lessons 3 and 4 on ratios.

Computer Science Education Week - To supplement our robotics programming students will be participating in Minecraft Education Hour of Code programming games this week. We will also be practicing digital citizenship and learning about cyber security.

Science - We are done with fish trapping for the year. Last week teams had a chance to finish their EV3 sensor labs including graphing their data and writing claim, evidence, reasoning conclusions.

This week we are going to start learning about energy and energy transfer so that we can begin the heat energy transfer labs with the EV3, the temperature sensor, and the Lego Mindstorms software.

Quarter 2, Week 4, 12-2 to 12-6

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - We are moving on to Unit 3 still working on ratios. We will review using ratio tables before starting the first lesson. This week students will focus on units of measurement and converting between different units.

Science - Teams will get more time to finish their sensor labs and finish writing their conclusions before we start working with the heat sensor to experiment with heat energy transfer.

In addition to working with the sensors and designing labs, students will also be learning about different Science topics including energy and energy transfer.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

Fish Trapping if the weather is safe!
6G will set the traps on Tuesday then retrieve the traps on Wednesday to ID and count the fish.

6B will set their traps on Wednesday and retrieve the traps on Thursday to ID and count the fish.

HW - For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence.
