Week 2, 9/8 to 9/12

(This may change from day to day depending on how much we actually get done in class so check back often to make sure something wasn't changed at the last minute.)

6th grade Science

Monday - We will start by reviewing the promises students came up with last week (3rd period is still working on it). 

Then we will continue working on the observation vs inference activity.

HW - None if you got all of last week's homework done: Parents signed up for Remind and Class Dojo, parents visited the Parent's Corner of my website and took the short info survey, got the Informed Consent Agreement and Permission to Publish form signed, and are working on getting all the Cispus paperwork all done.

Tuesday - Finish the observation vs inference activity. 

HW - Same as Monday.

Wednesday - Second and 3rd period need to finish the Observation vs Inference activity. Then we'll do the following, which 1st period started working yesterday):
  1. Paper blogging (for practice)
  2. Paper commenting following paper blogging.
HW - Check Monday

Thursday - Today students wrote their first blog posts on paper. We then passed the paper around so that they could practice commenting as well.

Then I chose some at random to show the class under the document camera so that we could evaluate them. We were looking to see what makes a great blog post and what makes a great comment. (First period finished today so I gave them a preview of 3D GameLab and how they will be using it.)

HW - Check Monday

Friday - Today 2nd and 3rd period will finish evaluating different paper blog posts and comments. 

Then students will setup their 3D GameLab accounts.

HW - Hopefully none if you're all done with all the things listed on Monday's HW.
6th grade Exploratory
Peace 4 Kids

(This is my 1st period class come back for 4th period.)


Monday - Teams will finish the 15 traits collage posters so they can share them with the class.

HW - None

Tuesday - Finish trait collages.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today teams will present/share their collages showing which traits they represented.

HW - None

Thursday - Today I read a story that focused on the traits self-esteem and goal setting. We had a class discussion.

HW - Sept #2, Goal-Setting, School Home Link. Due tomorrow.

Friday - Self-esteem and goal setting lesson.
