6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - We are continuing to work on Unit 4, Dividing Fractions, this week. We are starting Monday with the Math Google Classroom assignment 068 Flour Planner.

Science - This week teams will build and program their Potential Energy Design Challenge robots. Once their robots complete their jobs, teams will calculate the potential and kinetic energy of their robots.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

I will have a guest teacher sub for me Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday while I attend this year's NCCE EdTech Conference.
------------------

Any work that is not completed during class time becomes homework so that students don't fall behind and so that all students can access ALL the learning.

Regular HW available for anyone who needs it -
For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well.
Email me or message me on Classdojo with any questions.

Quarter 3, Week 2, 2-10 to 2-14

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we are starting Unit 4 on dividing fractions! Since we are taking an entire unit to learn about dividing fractions using the "trick" to get an answer is not the focus. Students will learn what dividing fractions means and what it looks like with different examples. Reasoning and figuring out the Math is what's important here and not just getting the answer. Answer getting without understanding the Math is not very helpful in the long run.

Science - This week we will check in on our Sally Ride EarthKAM booked images to see different places on Earth from 258 miles high! Last week students booked a camera on the International Space Station (ISS) to take photos of places on Earth along its orbits! Students got to choose what they wanted to see and this week we will start to get the images from the ISS so that we can view them and download them!

Then we will continue the learning and planning phase of the robotics Potential Energy Efficiency Design Challenge. Students will be learning how to use TinkerCad to build 3D objects in case they get ideas for things we can print for their robots.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

Quarter 3, Week 1, 2-3 to 2-7

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

It's the first day of the second semester! Report cards will be finalized, printed, and mailed to all families by February 13. I will be including the Quarter 2 Classdojo behavior reports as well.

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we are going to finish Unit 3 and take the Unit 3 assessment. Then we will start Unit 4 on Dividing Fractions!

Science - [Changed on Monday, Feb 3, based on a new opportunity that came up for us.] This week are going to take advantage of the 90th mission of the Sally Ride EarthKAM International Space Station (ISS) project! Students will learn about perspective and scale, especially when we zoom out far away from objects. Then students will get to use codes to book time on the ISS camera to take photos of places on Earth that will be in the path of the ISS's orbits!
