6th grade Science Monday - Memorial Day - No School! Tuesday - Many 6th graders didn't get their graphs done last week nor did they learn about their data by reading the water quality parameter websites so we are now a week behind schedule! This week ALL 6th graders need to finish their Water Quality Data quest (make both graphs and put on their blogs) and the Water Quality Parameters quest (read and learn about their specific parameter - each student will learn one, either dissolved oxygen, pH, temperature, flow rate or turbidity). HW - Finish the two quests mentioned above and get your permission slips signed and returned before Friday. Here's a copy of the Youth Summit packet, with permission slip, in case your child loses it. Wednesday - Same as Tuesday. Thursday - Same as Tuesday. Friday - Same as Tuesday. Those who finish the above two quests can start preparing for their Youth Summit presentation by working on the Youth Summit quest and/or the Water Webs quest. HW - Finish whatever you didn't finish in class this week or last week! | 8th grade Science Monday - Memorial Day - No School! Tuesday - Today we are starting our study of animals. Eighth graders can choose from snails or madagascar hissing cockroaches. Students will start by reflecting on what they already know about their chosen animal. Then they will research their animal and generate questions. Finally students will design an experiment around one of their questions to see what their animal prefers. HW - None if you are all caught up. Remember that they winning condition for 8th grade Science is 2900XP! Wednesday - Same as yesterday. By today teams should have had their experimental procedure approved by me so they can collect materials at home to start conducting their experiments tomorrow and Friday! HW - Gather your materials. Thursday - By today teams should be starting their experiments and collecting data or making observations. HW - None if you're all caught up and started your experiment. Friday - Teams need to finish collecting data and/or making observations today so they can write their conclusions. |
