6th grade Science Monday - Today students will have time to complete their Mt Saint Helens Cispus trip book pages or to work on any of their volcano work. HW - None Tuesday - Today is an early release day (8:45am to 12:15pm). We will have periods 1, 3, and 5 today. Students will continue to work on their trip book pages if they need to.  I will also show students how to show me evidence that they are ready for their volcano and/or Mt Saint Helens achievement badges. HW - None Wednesday - Today is an early release day (8:45am to 12:15pm). We will have periods 2, 4, and 6 today. Same as yesterday for today's group. HW - None Thursday - Today students are going to complete a goal sheet for their learning goals in Science. Then students will begin to approach me with their evidence of having learned the volcano and Mt Saint Helens standards. Once approved they will be able to put a Volcano achievement badge and a Mt Saint Helens achievement badge on their blogs. Students who went to Cispus will also put a Cispus badge on their blog. HW - None Friday - Today students finished (or they were supposed to finish) filling out their goal sheet for their volcanoes work. Students also worked on their Week 3 and Week 4 blogging challenges and the Mt Saint Helens blog. HW - You can work on anything that you didn't finish in class today.

8th grade Science Monday - Students will have time to finish their biome commercials today so that they can share their movies this week while I check in with them. HW - None Tuesday - Today is an early release day (8:45am to 12:15pm). We will have periods 1, 3, and 5 today. Students will continue to get their biome commercial movies completed.  HW - None Wednesday - Today is an early release day (8:45am to 12:15pm). We will have periods 2, 4, and 6 today. Same as yesterday for today's group. HW - None Thursday - Today students will finish exporting their movies. Then we will start watching all the movies once I copy them all. HW - None Friday - Today we continued to watch student movies and giving them feedback. Students can also work on their Week 3 and Week 4 blog assignments. HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - We will be working on Cispus activities all day today here at school. Students can bring their gear to leave here over night and they will take the 2:20pm bus home. Tuesday - Students can take their regular bus to school and we will leave for camp at about 8:15am. Friday - Students need to be picked up from school at about 2pm.

8th grade Science Monday through Friday - This week my 8th graders will be working with a substitute teacher and my student teacher to create Biome movies/commercials/news shows as part of the BIOME PROJECT. Pretty cool project! When they are done their movies will be uploaded to their blogs!

6th grade Science Monday - Today students will continue working on the volcano learning activity in preparation for our Mt Saint Helens trip during Camp Cispus. HW - None unless you still need to turn in your Cispus paperwork (please turn in the permission slip and health form right away, you can wait until Thursday to turn in the medication authorization form if your child needs to take any medication, even over the counter) or the Informed Consent Agreement. Tuesday - Same as Monday. HW - Same as Monday. Wednesday - Same as Monday. HW - Same as Monday. Thursday - Today we might make some time to take on the week 2 blogging challenge. We also have a Mt Saint Helens blog post to see what kids have been learning. HW - None Friday - Today is our last chance to finish everything we've been working on this week. HW - None

8th grade Science Monday - Today we are going to work as a whole class to figure out which items from a list are living or non-living.  HW - None Tuesday - Today teams setup a lab with five different substances to determine if any of them are living things. HW - None Wednesday - Today teams will check their experiments and make their first round of observations. Then students will work on the week 2 blogging challenge and their What is Living blogs. HW - None  Thursday - Today teams will make their 48 hours later observations. Then they will finish yesterday's blog posts as well as the Is it Living Lab post. HW - None Friday - Today we will start a project on biomes! HW - None

6th grade Science Monday - Today we will finish discussing the survey students took last week. Then we will develop our technology use norms for the year so that students can use the iPads, Netbooks and iMacs responsibly.  HW - None Tuesday - Today we will also go over  the district guidelines for using technology at school and being on the school network.  Then students will work on setting up their class blogs and taking a couple more surveys for me online.  HW - Get your Informed Consent Agreement and Permission to Publish form (a two-sided sheet!) signed (both sides need to be signed!). Once student blogs are ready students can add an avatar to their blogs at home (if they can). Wednesday - Today students will be testing out their class blog accounts. Students will work on their first two blog assignments. The first blog assignment will be the famous 7 random facts assignment then we will begin a student blogging challenge. HW - None unless you still haven't returned your Informed Consent Agreement and Permission to Publish form signed (both sides, please). Thursday - Today students are going to work on their 1st student blogging challenge blog post. Then we will practice commenting. HW - None Friday - Today we will begin a volcano learning activity in preparation for our Mt Saint Helens trip during Camp Cispus. HW - None

Wednesday - Today students will finish their week 1 blogging challenge while visiting other students blogs to read and comment on their writings. We will practice proper commenting strategies. HW - None Thursday - Today we will begin conducting an investigation into Scientific Thinking and why that's important. Then we are going to start investigating what is life. HW - None  Friday - Today we will make some observations and make some decisions about living things and what it means to be considered living. HW - None
