Quarter 2, Week 10, 1-26 to 1-30

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Thursday -
Math - This week the plan is to complete the following assignments in the Math Google Classroom, one per day as they become available each day, Monday 066 Cost Breakdown, Tuesday 067 More Bicycle Goals, Wednesday 068 A Country as a Village, and Thursday 069 6.3 Practice Day 2 in the Math workbooks, pages 339 to 340.

Science - Monday teams need to finish graphing their data (teams that did not get their experiment done in time will use the shared data I added to the Science Google Classroom assignment 017 How Sensors Work Lab - the shared data is for an experiment testing different shades of blue to see how the color sensor on reflective mode adapts). Then we will start writing our conclusions using the CER, Claim, Evidence, Reasoning, format.

Once we are all done with the lab we will begin our robotics project, the Potential Energy Efficiency Design Project! That project will also be presented as our first official Starfleet mission for our class Star Trek theme game.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the morning.)

Friday - No School - Semester Break as our 1st Semester Ends

Also no School on Monday for a staff development day!

Here is a link to the playlist I'm working on with Math videos showing the strategies and models students are learning in class: Math Support

And here is an infographic I made with NotebookLM, using only the two videos I recorded to help with the Unit 3 quiz, showing students the three-step method for solving ratio problems

Any work that is not completed during class time becomes homework so that students don't fall behind and so that all students can access ALL the learning.

Regular HW available for anyone who needs it -
For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence. Students can also finish or go back through any online assignment once we complete it in class on a computer, tablet, or phone.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well
 on computers, tablets, or phones.

Math MAP - After testing I will have 6B for Math & Science.

Garden Day!
(Our classes have garden in the morning.)

Wednesday to Friday -

Math - This week we will work on Math Google Classroom assignments 064 Bicycle Goals on Wednesday and 065 Practice 6.3.11 on Friday.

Students took their Unit 3 quiz papers home last week to show parents and to finish their reflections if they did not have time in class to finish Math Google Classroom assignment 062 Unit 3 Quiz Reflection.

Science - Thursday both classes will take the Science MAP test in my classroom during Math & Science time only.

Teams need to finish their sensor labs so that we can graph and analyze the data to write conclusions. We will try to get conclusions written by Friday.

Quarter 2, Week 8, 1-12 to 1-16

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - Monday we are going to work on pages 292 and 293 in our workbooks, Google Classroom assignment 060 Unit 3 Lessons 1-8 Practice. Then Tuesday we will have our Unit 3 mid-unit quiz, Google Classroom assignment 061, and reflect on the quiz results on Wednesday and add the reflection to eportfolios, assignment 062 Unit 3 Quiz Reflection.

Thursday we will be on testing schedule for the MAP Reading test so I will only have my homeroom class that day. We will have practice for Math then on Friday both classes will work on the next assignment, 063 Lucky Duckies as we start working on percentages!

Science - Last week student teams made progress on their 017 How Sensors Work Lab assignment using the Lab Planning Boards (copy attached to the Google Classroom assignment). Some teams started collecting data last week and the rest will collect data this week.

Once teams collect data they will graph their data to analyze it so they can work on their conclusion. Students will use a CER lab conclusion writing guide to help them analyze their data and craft their conclusions.

Tuesday - No Garden today. Language MAP (MAP test in Ms. Berg's class only)!

Quarter 2, Week 7, 1-5 to 1-9

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - We are going to start on Monday with a 2026 goal-setting assignment. Then we will get back into the swing of things with a ratio table problem string. Students will then complete a problem strings worksheet for review.

For the rest of the week we will do practice sets starting Tuesday, 057 Practice 6.3.05 (we skipped practice 6.3.05 because the One Word activity took the entire time on Monday so we did the problem string practice on Tuesday - the rest of the week did not change), then 058 Practice 6.3.06 on Wednesday, 059 Practice 6.3.07 on Thursday, and 060 Practice 6.3.08 on Friday. Assignments are not available until the day of so they only appear on Google Classroom on the day they are assigned.

Next week we will take the Unit 3 mid-unit quiz on Tuesday.

Science - We are going to continue working on assignment 017 How Sensors Work Lab. Teams are going to plan their lab and set it up to begin collecting data. Then they will write conclusions based on their results. The goal is to complete the entire lab process this week.

Tuesday - No Garden this week.
