Quarter 4, Week 2, 4-28 to 5-2

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we will continue working on Unit 6, Expressions and Equations, to work on algebraic thinking. We will start with Google Classroom lesson 100, Hanging it Up.

Science - This week we are going to continue going down to Chimacum Creek to collect more water quality data. We will go every day that we can this week unless the weather becomes unsafe. Then students will teach each other the parameters that they tested at the creek! :)

This also starts the Survive the Sound fish tracking so kids will see if the fish they chose will make it out to sea or die during their migration. We will also learn about what can kill migrating salmon as they make their way out to sea.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.)

------------------

Any work that is not completed during class time becomes homework so that students don't fall behind and so that all students can access ALL the learning.

Regular HW available for anyone who needs it -
For Math students have a workbook that they can take pages out of to take home for lessons that need more work if they don't get it during class or if they miss due to absence.

For Science, if students fall behind on their classwork they can catch up at home (if students do not have access to a computer at home, ask Mr. Gonzalez for an alternative
activity or assignment). If students want to access the practice quizzes and games on Google Classroom at home, they can work on those as well.

Quarter 4, Week 1, 4-21 to 4-25

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we are going to complete Google Classroom assignment 095 on division with decimals. Then we are going to start working on Unit 6 on expressions and equations to practice some algebra before all the spring testing begins. Unit 6 will start with assignment 096, the readiness assessment, then we will start lesson 1 with assignment 097.

Science - This week we will review how to use the water quality testing equipment to start going to the creek and collect water quality data with our Vernier sensors and probes. The creek access point we will be visiting each day that we can safely go is off the main road on the way to Cenex from the school. We will be going under the bridge near the school. In class students will continue learning about their parameters as well as ecosystems and habitats in a freshwater ecosystem.

Tuesday - Garden Day! (Our classes have garden in the afternoon.) We also have a music assembly today at 1:30 pm.

Water Quality Testing
Every day that the weather is safe we will go down to the creek access point under the bridge that is on the way towards Cenex from the school. There students will collect water quality data with our Vernier sensors and probes.

Friday - Today we will have our Student of the Month assembly for April at 2:30 pm.

Quarter 3, Week 9 4-7 to 4-11

6B - Ms. Berg's 6th Grade Homeroom Class
6G - Mr. Gonzalez's 6th Grade Homeroom Class

Math & Science

Monday to Friday -
Math - This week we are going to start multiplying and dividing decimals with assignment 092 Decimal Multiplication. We will start Tuesday because Monday kids will get more time to finish their quiz reflection so they can fix the ones they got wrong.

Science - We had a great week last week learning from the North Olympic Salmon Coalition (NOSC)! Students got to collect benthic macro data for this year on Thursday and complete some creek restoration activities on Friday's Finnriver field trip.

Here are photos of the trip (and all other things Math & Science so far this year).

This week we are going to continue learning about climate change and brainstorm local issues to solve with innovative and sustainable solutions. Students are also going to start learning how to use the water quality testing equipment so that we can visit our creek and start collecting water quality data!
