6G Math & Science Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday - This week we will try to finish, or at least get through as much of, our Data Science unit in Math. Kids will also get more time to finish or do more computer science practice. Ms. Berg and I will also be having kids who missed any MAP test last week make up the test or tests they missed. In Science we will work on completing the 5-6 Zombie Apocalypse disease Classcraft quest. By Thursday I plan to roll the dice and end the game aspect of this unit! This week 6G will set fish traps Wednesday, then return Thursday to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps. Fish trapping is cancelled this week due to the fact that there aren't any fish to catch this time of year.

6G Math & Science Monday - Today we are continuing to work through our Data Science unit during Math. Students should be working on Prodigy for homework to build up their Math skills.  This is also Computer Science Education Week so students will spend at least one hour doing Hour of Code activities. In Science we will continue working on our unit on diseases, called the Zombie Apocalypse quest on Classcraft. Thursday - Today students will take the Winter Reading MAP Test after lunch. The rest of the day students will work on our Data Science unit in Math and the Zombie Apocalypse quest in Science.

6B 5/6 Math & Science Tuesday - Today students will take the Winter Language Arts MAP Test. Then students will get to practice at least an hour of coding for this year's Computer Science Education Week! In Science students will continue working on our disease unit, the 5-6 Zombie Apocalypse quest in Classcraft. Wednesday - Today students will take the Winter Math MAP Test. Then students will continue working on the Data Science Unit in Math and the Zombie apocalypse quest in Science. Friday - Data Science unit in Math and Zombie Apocalypse Unit in Science, continued. This week 6B will set fish traps Tuesday, then return Wednesday to ID and count any fish we catch in the traps.

Wednesday - Same as Monday - continue building sustainable development solutions in Minecraft. Today this class will go down to the creek to set fish traps. Thursday - Tomorrow is the deadline for the sustainable development Minecraft build challenge so students need to finish building today and record their screencast tour.  Today this class will go to the creek to get the fish traps. If we catch any fish we will identify and count them.

6B 5/6 Math & Science Tuesday - Today teams need to work on their sustainable development Minecraft build so it's ready to record and submit by Friday. Today this class will go to the creek to get the fish traps. If we catch any fish we will identify and count them. Thursday - I have a sub today. Students will work on any Classcraft assignments they need to complete for Math. Teams will continue working on getting their eportfolios ready, finishing the Big Sneeze assignment on Tyto Online, and getting some work done on the Sustainable Development Minecraft challenge.

In Science teams will be working on their Sustainable Development Minecraft Education Edition challenge, it's an environmental challenge that fits perfectly into our Ocean Guardian School project. Then Mrs. Kaster will join us at 1:30 pm for her next bully prevention lesson. Students will go home with a sack lunch.  In class students will complete the Dear Data project in Math while we continue to work on the Diseases Health Unit in Science.

Thursday - Today we will go back to the creek to retrieve the fish traps. We will identify and count the fish to keep track of how many fish go through our section of the creek.

Otherwise, students will complete some Math Minecraft activities as well as create their online portfolio. Thursday - Today we will start the day taking the Language MAP test. Once all students are done we will continue with our regularly scheduled work. HW - We will update students and families when computers are fully set up and ready to go home. I am hoping to get our Esports Club up and running by next week.

6G Math & Science Monday and Thursday - Since laptops weren't really ready for students to start logging in last week, it took a LOT longer for us to get logged in and some students do not have their accounts all setup yet. The good news is that all students were able to use their Math and Science Classcraft accounts and all students joined their Math and Science Google Classrooms! :) Here's the plan for this week: Students will complete some "getting to know you" activities. We will complete an activity to learn the importance of Math and to review some concepts. Then students will make sure they have their Math and Science Eportfolios setup and that they know how to use Google Sites and add content. We will begin playing some Math and Science games to learn some new concepts and review concepts that they should know by now. HW - There is no homework this week unless families haven't signed the permission slip and photo release form and signed up for both Ms. Berg's and my Bloomz classes. Since we will be playing some Math and Science games in class, students might want to play them at home. As parents, know that if your child does that it's because they want to and not because they have to so feel free to limit the amount of time they spend on the computer playing those games because playing at home is NOT required. If your child signed up for esports I will let them and you know when we will be ready to start meeting in the mornings. It will NOT be this week.

Mr. Gonzalez will see this class, his homeroom class, every other day for an entire day!  Here are activities students will engage in to get back into the swing of things, all fully masked to stay safe: Students will get and label all their school supplies.  Students will be issued a school laptop but they won't get to take their laptops home until the end of the month. Students will learn how to reset their passwords, then they will learn how to access their Classcraft accounts and join their Math and Science Google Classrooms. Students will participate in a cooperative group working activity called Saving Sam. Students will participate in a team building activity called the Marshmallow Challenge HW - Read the information handouts, sign up for Bloomz for both Ms. Berg and Mr. Gonzalez, and sign the permission slip and photo release form. Cohorts 1 (Per 3) and 2 (Per 1) Monday & Tuesday - Teams will get to finish as many of the available robotics challenges as they can.  Wednesday - Today is the 6th grade Field Day Event! Thursday - Students will have some time to finish their last robotics challenge, then we will clean up the kits and collect laptops and chargers! Friday - Last day of school and we will be on an Early Release Schedule! Today we will have some fun activities before we bid farewell to our 6th graders and send them off for summer and junior high. Kids will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.

Cohort C (Per 2) Monday & Tuesday - Those who are not done with their second vinegar and baking soda lab will finish so they can begin the insulation lab. Wednesday - Today is the 6th grade Field Day Event! Thursday - Last chance to finish the insulation lab! Those who finish the insulation lab can begin the backyard biodiversity science activity.  Friday - Last day of school and we will be on an Early Release Schedule! Today we will have some fun activities before we bid farewell to our 6th graders and send them off for summer and junior high. Kids will be dismissed at 12:15 pm.

Students will need a way to heat up water to use with their digital thermometers. Ideally, students also need access to at least one cup or glass depending on how they decide to conduct their experiments. :)

Students are going to learn about ocean plankton and Tuesday they will each make a clay figure of a plankton that will be used on a new playground in HJ Carroll park! NOTE: the clay students will use on Tuesday contains iron oxide, which stains clothes. We have aprons but remind your child to wear something old in case it gets stained. :) Wednesday and Thursday - Students will finish up our Ocean Guardian School Environmental Stewardship Project work! I'm also going to give them the choice of pausing this unit to begin working on the experimentation unit and use the items from the box! The first set of experiments will use the vinegar and baking soda so students will need some space and plenty of paper towels or wash cloths to clean up. :) Monday and Tuesday we are switching periods with Ms. Berg's ELA time so students will have Science at 12:55 pm.
