Monday - No School Today - President's Day!

HW - None

Tuesday - Today we will pick up where we left off last week with our 8th lesson on Work.

Sixth graders are practicing how to calculate work and they are figuring out, mathematically, how much work their motors can do!

HW - None

Wednesday - Almost done with the lab for lesson 8.

HW - None

Thursday - Today all teams should be done with their lesson 8 labs. Everyone will begin working on the lesson 8 reflection assignment blog.

HW - None

Friday - Today's plan is to finish lesson 8. Those who get done with the reflection blog can work on any old 3D GameLab quests they need to complete.

HW - None
8th grade Science

Monday - No School Today - President's Day!

HW - Finish your classification project.

Tuesday - Today 2nd period continued to learn about atoms, elements, molecules and compounds as well as investigate the relationship between structure and function as we prepare to learn about cells!

My 4th period class did the cheek cell lab today because they didn't do it last week.

HW - Same as Monday.

Wednesday - Today I asked students to backtrack. I still only have 10 students out of my 53 8th graders who have been submitting and working on their classification project. After 13 days in the computer lab playing World of Warcraft and three weeks of in-class time to work on the project, plus one week homework time, I can't wait much longer.

I'm asking the 43 students who haven't completed this classification project to work on it in class until they finish before we all move on with our study of cells.

HW - Same as Monday.

Thursday - Finish the classification project.

HW - Same as Monday.

Friday - Finish the classification project.

HW - Same as Monday. Get the classification project done this weekend so we can continue our study of cells next week. (It can be done at home if you use the Internet to study classification of living things using the websites we found in class.)

6th grade Science

Monday - Today students will finish the lesson 8 intro, practicing how to calculate work. Then they will complete lesson 8.1 where they will calculate the work they did on lesson 6 by pulling the wood block across the five different surface types!

I will have a sub in the afternoon for my 5th and 6th period classes because a few middle school teachers will visiting Hawkins Middle School to learn how they do standards-based grading.

HW - None

Tuesday - Today teams will begin the 8.2 lab with the motors to calculate the amount of work they do to lift an amount of washers.

HW - None

Wednesday - Today students will continue to work on lesson 8.

HW - None

Thursday - Today students will keep working on lesson 8.

HW - None

Friday - Snow Make-Up Day so No School Today! Happy Valentines Day!

HW - Have a great four day weekend!
8th grade Science

Monday - There are many students who have not completed their classification projects even though I extended the deadline by one week. They are not using class time to complete the project so that means they are okay with completing the project at home.

Today we are going to start some activities to think about how form or structure relates to or leads to function. That is the big idea we will be investigating as we begin our study of cells.

I will have a sub in the afternoon for my 5th and 6th period classes because a few middle school teachers will visiting Hawkins Middle School to learn how they do standards-based grading.

HW - Finish your classification project.

Tuesday - Today students will have activities available that will help them learn about atoms, elements, molecules, and compounds. This will help them understand how cells function.

Wednesday - Today we will do a cheek cell lab so that students can see human cheek cells under the microscopes.

Thursday - Today students should be working on some activities to learn about ionic and covalent bonds and biological molecules. This will help them understand how things travel in and out of cells.

Friday -Snow Make-Up Day so No School Today! Happy Valentines Day!

HW - Have a great four day weekend! (Did you finish your classification project)?
