6th grade Science

Monday - Snow Make-up Day - No School.

Tuesday - Welcome to the 2nd semester (or second half) of the school year!

Today 6th graders are continuing to work on the experimental procedure (students are designing their own labs to figure out how to get little motors to lift the most washers).

Teams are either finishing their experiments and collecting data or working on their graphs and writing conclusions.

HW - None (I have Skyward grades updated and am working on the standards-based progress reports. Progress reports will include peer feedback that students gave each other as available.)

Wednesday - Same as yesterday.

HW - None

Thursday - By today all teams should be either done with their conclusions or at least working on their conclusions.

Teams will share their results so that we can all see which configurations are the best in getting the motors to lift the most washers they can.

HW - I'm finally all done with Skyward grades and Online Standards Progress Reports! Check them out.

Friday - Today we will complete lesson 7.2 by using a spring scale and the best configuration to see how much force our motors can exert.

Then students will complete the EMM Lesson reflection questions on their blogs.

HW - None
8th grade Science

Monday - Snow Make-up Day - No School.

Tuesday - Welcome to the 2nd semester (or second half) of the school year!

Students are going to keep working on their classification of living things project as they sort and organize the living things they found in the virtual world of Azeroth.

Students will then begin researching how scientists classify living things to see how they did on their own.

HW - None (I have Skyward grades updated and am working on the standards-based progress reports. Progress reports will include peer feedback that students gave each other as available.)

Wednesday - Same as yesterday.

HW - None

Thursday - Same as yesterday. By today students should be ready to embed their organized groups of living things onto their blogs.

HW - Anything you need to do to get to 850XP by Friday (or show that you learned and understand the 1st semester learning targets).

Wednesday - Early Release. Periods 3 and 5 will meet today to continue working on their motor labs. Teams that get their procedures and data tables approved can begin running this experiment and collect data.

HW - See Tuesday.

Thursday - Early Release. Period 6 will meet today to continue working on the motor labs. Teams that get their procedures and data tables approved can begin running this experiment and collect data.

HW - See Tuesday.

Friday - Those teams who have completed their experiments will graph their data and write their conclusions.

Those teams that are still working on their procedures need to get those approved so they can run their experiments and collect data.

HW - See Tuesday.
8th grade Science

Monday - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - No School.

Tuesday - Today students began sorting their screenshots of living things by going through all the screenshot photos and beginning to organize them.

HW - Anything you need to do to get to 950XP by Friday (or show that you learned and understand the 1st semester learning targets).

Wednesday - Early Release today and I don't see any of my 8th grade classes.

HW - See Tuesday.

Thursday - Early Release today and there will be Science for both my 2nd and 4th period classes.

Students are going to keep working on their classification of living things project as they sort and organize the living things they found in the virtual world of Azeroth.

Students will then begin researching how scientists classify living things to see how they did on their own.

HW - See Tuesday.

Friday - By today teams should be have their classifications displayed to share. Then teams will work on answering questions about classification and taxonomy.

HW - See Tuesday.

6th grade Science

Monday - Today students began the self-assessment process to show me how they've been doing since midterm. Students took a survey answering questions about how they want to be assessed, how well they understand the Science Learning Targets and what grade they should get and why.

This process will help me determine end of Semester grades and will help students discuss their grades and Science learning with their families.

HW - None if you're all caught up (for 6th grade that means you have at least 850XP).

Tuesday - Today I will give those that didn't finish their self-assessment survey time to finish it today while those that finished yesterday work on their 3D GameLab quests.

Once most everyone is done with the self-assessment survey we will continue our work with Lesson 7 by choosing the variables student teams will be experimenting on. Then students can write their Problem questions and Hypotheses!

HW - See Monday.

Wednesday - By today student teams should begin working on their experimental procedure for their investigation into how strong our motors are.

HW - See Monday.

Thursday - Students will continue to design their motor experiments.

HW - See Monday.

Friday - Motor experimental procedures continued. Those teams that get their procedures approved by me, along with a data table, can begin collecting data by running their experiments!

HW - See Monday -> One week left before the semester ends!

HW - See Monday.

Wednesday - Same as yesterday. I would like to see students get to the minipond safari quest so I can show them how to use the digital microscopes!

HW - See Monday.

Thursday - Today we will be in the computer lab to continue drawing and collecting all the living things in the different zones of Azeroth.

HW - See Monday.

Friday - Last day to draw and find all the living things you can find in Azeroth! This is the last time this year we will play World of Warcraft.
